Obamacares survival is not a given, despite claims by the Democrats and their media allies that the Supreme Courts latest rewrite of the law means its here to stay. Most Americans still disapprove of it, and many of the laws provisions are unpopular even with important Democrat constituencies. The Cadillac tax, for example, is so reviled by the labor unions that Hillary Clinton has been forced to call for its repeal. Yet, only one of the three leading candidates for the GOP presidential nomination has both the credibility and a serious commitment to getting rid of Obamacare Ben Carson.
All of the GOP candidates have issued rote calls to repeal Obamacare. But two of the top three contenders have credibility issues. Donald Trump, who leads the GOP race according to the Real Clear Politics polling average, favors single-payer. Until recently, Carly Fiorina supported the hated individual mandate. Only Carson has been consistently and vehemently opposed to the law: In 2013 he compared it to slavery: It was never about health care. It was about control. This wasnt bluster from a career politician. Carson is a neurosurgeon with intimate knowledge of our health care system.

All that means is that he knows health care from the provider and the billing perspective. What does he know about funding the five and six figure procedures that he bills for?
in your medically ignorant state, what makes you think he doesn’t?
I’ll go with Doctor Ben rather than a doodle dog
I’m not a huge Carson fan. I’m curious about who you support currently — are you for Trump? or someone else?
Sometimes you should have more coffee before an early morning post makes you look so bad........
:-)
And I'm sure you'll find exactly what you want.
Please. Let’s quit asking each other who we’re for. It has the creepy feeling of a litmus test. Post an article, make a pithy comment, but this Trumpmance on FR starts to get old. We are talking about Dr Carson’s plan, I believe. Please continue, pray, pardon the interruption.
Ted Cruz. You can look through my posting history and I've never supported anyone else.
Pointing out that Carson's scheme makes no sense is not looking bad. HSAs make sense if people can or will fund them. If you have a $10,000 deductible on your insurance plan and a $2,000 HSA then it doesn't take a genius to see that the math doesn't work.
it would be damned ironic if dd was a Trump supporter and simultaneously claiming that being in business means Trumps understands the entire economy while saying that Dr. Be being in the administrative and provider roles means nothing. That would be a logical trick.
I just don’t see Carson as a cutthroat negotiator. I don’t see the lamb becomming a lion in the face of socialist deceit. I can’t vest my faith in this man as the leader we need at this dire hour. Perhaps in a time of growth and largess, but not when we are facing an existential threat from socialists.
do you have any idea how much less PREMIUM EVERY MONTH a true free market 10K deductible plan saves? Depending on the person, family, etc, it SAVES more than 10K a year.....meaning the worst you can do is “break even.”
It takes 95% of the administrative cost out of the equation as well.
I'd love to see the figures on that.
I live it every month......every year, and have for 7-8 years. Do you even know what a deductible does to risk actuarial figures? Do you even know what risk actuaries are?
When you take the insurance/government component out of 98% of all medical care, of course you reduce the price. Obama Care restrictions have killed some HSA policies, but the HSA high deductible low premium concept is the ONLY way to solve this.
And yes, it's bad when you claim he knows nothing but how to bill, and yes it was a really bad way to start your day.
For some reason there's a lot of folks who can't understand this....they've bought into so many liberal templates on health care that they don't even have the ability to see the only conservative way to address this - the only way to address "price" is to address "cost" - and the only way to do that is to remove this expensive wall of bureaucratic insanity that exists between the recipient and the payor. The best way to do that is to use insurance for what it was intended, as catastrophic coverage.
The lameness of claiming he only knows how to bill is beyond stupid.
Hey, check it out, I started out by trying to be nice....
:-)
I suppose he will since you sure did.
Of course. You just said so.
When you take the insurance/government component out of 98% of all medical care, of course you reduce the price.
There is no government solution. So long as every facet of the healthcare system is profit based then there is no way to cut or control costs. So Cruz is right; repeal Obamacare period. Not replace, repeal. Any plan that actually works and covers everyone is too expensive. All these other plans, like Carson's fantasy, only pretend to provide a solution.
I think it's his common sense and innate conservative principles that clarified this more than his inside knowledge. Many doctors do not understand the mechanism, other than how they specifically bill to get paid. Ditto some health insurance execs.
It's a general understanding of risk management, the big picture of what insurance really is, that drives his coherence on this. Insurance is not a way to protect anything....only a way to protect one's bank account against the cost of repairing that thing (health, car, house, boat, whatever). If's an instrument of financial risk management, period. Thus, a high deductible lower premium plan is the the best option
