Twenty-five Republicans rebelled against John Boehner (R-Ohio), who won a third term as Speaker on Tuesday.
The 25 Republicans, including three freshmen, didn't coalesce around a single alternative candidate.
Rep. Daniel Webster (R-Fla.), whose nomination for Speaker became public just minutes before the vote, attracted the most votes at 12.
Meanwhile, the other two long-shot candidates, Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) only received three and two votes each.
Additionally, freshman Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas) voted "present" rather than voting for anyone. And two Republican lawmakers voted for people who aren't even members of the House: Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Ala.) for Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), and Rep. Curt Clawson (R-Fla.) for Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).
Below is a list of the Republican lawmakers who voted against Boehner:
Justin Amash (R-Mich.) Brian Babin (R-Texas) Rod Blum (R-Iowa) Dave Brat (R-Va.) Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.) Curt Clawson (R-Fla.) Scott DesJarlais (R-Tenn.) Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) Scott Garrett (R-N.J.) Chris Gibson (R-N.Y.) Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) Walter Jones (R-N.C.) Steve King (R-Iowa) Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) Richard Nugent (R-Fla.) Gary Palmer (R-Ala.) Bill Posey (R-Fla.) Scott Rigell (R-Va.) Marlin Stutzman (R-Ind.) Randy Weber (R-Texas) Daniel Webster (R-Fla.) Ted Yoho (R-Fla.)

lol....man... got dyslexic on that one January 2015
Been under the weather of late but just had to log in and rejoice with my fellow Freepers about the demise of Boehner.
GREAT news indeed. Let’s hope this is the beginning of the end for the GOPe.
Just heard Webster say on Hannity that he was running.
Daniel Webster said on Hannity radio he would be glad to run. He said he has a lot of friends on the Freedom Caucus and although only 29 votes are required to stop McCarthy, it is best to have 40-50 because Louie Gohmert said some can chicken out at the last minute.
Hope you get well soon! It is great to celebrate this today.
Gohmert is supporting Webster
Louie Louie OH OH Boner got to go. couldn’t help sing the old rock song.
Louie says they need to block the GOPe nominee on the first ballot, they need say 35 votes to do so and then the whole freedom caucus need to back one candidate to win

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
And there’s your complete list for potential successors.
Webster is who Huelskamp voted for last time so I trust Huelskamp in his decision since he has opposed the Republican establishment ever since he got voted to Congress.
CGato
FWIW, I don’t trust any HOR member who didn’t vote against Boehner. It’ll just be “meet the new boss, same as the old boss....”
You betcha that list is important and relevant!
Shows us the patriots and the brave.
Thanks for posting.
Dave Brat would make an excellent Speaker. Brilliant guy, telegenic, good speaker, knocked off Eric Cantor with a shoestring campaign budget, hasn’t been corrupted yet, hasn’t been in the Dist. of corruption long enough to make a lot of enemies, has an A+ rating from NumbersUSA, and is a solid conservative who has done what he told his constituents he would do.

WTF?
66 years old. Ga. Tech grad.
Was head of his HVAC contractor biz in Orlando. Dunno if he's still doing that or not at this point.
Was teaching my College&Career sunday school class at 1st Baptist of Pine Hills (Southern Baptist) way back when.... that's how I met him.
As an aside, was a really good hitter on our church softball teams, too.
Beat out a perennial democrat to win seat in the State House in 1980. Was pretty much untouched after that.
Rose to Speaker of Fla. House (while Jeb was Governor). But while they worked together, he is NOT a Jeb-bot by any stretch.
He once told me about some campaign monies coming in from various industry groups, saying something like "I appreciate their money, but it ain't gonna get them anywhere."
Was not going to enter Congress, but was pressed into service to combat nut-job Alan Grayson. He won despite a nasty campaign by Grayson.
... and as confirmed by Wikipedia, I did recall that yes: "He is a distant relative of the antebellum politician and orator Daniel Webste".
It would spurprise me if this happens... but he'd be really good.
