With Speaker John Boehners (R-Ohio) job in doubt, House conservatives have been holding internal talks about a new leadership coalition that could include Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as Speaker and more conservative members occupying lower rungs on the leadership ladder.

NO no no no no no no no no no.
McCarthy is the GOPe hatchet man.
Apologies to our California FReepers. I just don't encounter too many real conservatives from California.
I agree. Unfortunately, the conservative caucus has always had good things to say about McCarthy, even when he moved into the Maj Leader role last year. I don’t get it. Barring a miracle, we’re going to be stuck with it.
The “leaks” begin to put a GOPe traitor in. I find it hard to believe that conservatives who put everything on the line to stop Boehner would suddenly ‘warm’ to McCarthy.
I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
Gowdy.
Say “Gowdy”.
Lather, rinse, repeat....
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.
They will not change of their own volition. The establishment hacks will have to be taken down one scalp at a time. The good news is that each scalp makes the next one easier to claim.
The article was written 9/15. No doubt planted knowing that Boehner was planning to resign. Hopefully, McCarthy won’t be the choice.
Hi BG,
Interesting that this “support” article is surfacing again. It was originally published by The Hill on September 15 - ten days ago.
I wonder if it s still accurate?

This article was from before the resignation announcement. Things could be different now.
Gowdy is part of the kabuki.
Biggirl, they may choose McCarthy but these stories about acceptance with (all) conservatives in the House are canned propaganda that was prepared overnight.
Don’t believe everything you see and hear.
The Leadership has to represent the WHOLE caucus- not just conservatives (and not just RINOs either).
McCarthy is a good fit if conservatives get significant new power.
Jim Jordan is the man.
We’re sure he’s not. He’s not a bit better than Boehner—and if anything a little creepier.
I’d like to see a list of those House conservatives. They need to have their emails and phones explode!
