The rise of Donald Trump might represent some massive sea change in American politicsbut its far more likely he will fade long before the primary season does. Thanks to Trump, August was a blockbuster month for the political press, but most of what is happening now wont decide who is sworn in on Jan. 20, 2017

#7. Trump is still unlikely to be the nominee. Were not disputing that Donald Trump is the clear polling frontrunner on the GOP side, or that he has struck a chord with millions of voters unimpressed with politicians that talk rather than do. Two other candidates whove never held elected office, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, are also attracting large shares of support.
However, the Trump candidacy has all the markings of an early bubble that will eventually burst. Were betting that most Republicans will return to traditional politicians as the election season rolls on. Out of the current 17 GOP candidates, five come closest to meeting the usual metrics required to win a major-party nomination: Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Ted Cruz and John Kasich.
As concerned as many are about Bushs dynasty burdens and Jebs uneven, unexciting performances on the trail, he still has the best chance to win over the party establishment (big donors and big-name politicians). Plus, his $119 million, and growing, war chest is far greater than those of his rivals.

I think “flaccid” is a better adjective for Yeb.
I don’t believe they are misreading anything.
I believe they are actively thwarting what they know to be the will of the people.
We have been screaming for border security and interior enforcement for over a decade while they offer only amnesty.
The misreading they tell us they are doing is misdirection.
The GOP ruling class reacts to Trump campaigning strong while primary season churns along:
We have been screaming for border security and interior enforcement for over a decade while they offer only amnesty. The misreading they tell us they are doing is misdirection.
You, my friend, are exceedingly wise, and very observant.
You're absolutely right.
Sabato and Frank Luntz belong to the same leftist think tank.
Oh that’s good.LOL
“Usually that GOP nominee will get crushed by the “younger, hipper” Democrat nominee but sometimes that that GOP nominee will squeak out the necessary 270 electoral vote if the Democrats put up somebody just as odious (Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, etc.).”
Good golly miss molly, the so-called Dems have for “younger, hipper” possible nominees are let’s just say certain folks past the age of 60. Those are young, hip folks and I have a certain bridge in NYC that I can sell to you! :)
>> Jeb doesnt have $119 million any more. Hes spent over $20 million of it already on consultants, hotels, travel, etc and his fundraising has collapsed.
Plus, if I understood the reporting on this correctly, a big part of that $120 million is essentially IOUs — subject to reneging by the donor. Not all of the $120MM is actual cash in Jebbie’s bank account.
Financially, he might be in much worse shape than has been touted.
Not a bug fan of Trump for the nominee but it is evident that he has cross party appeal and that extra little something that puts his name on people’s lips. At this point I would judge his chances of being the nominee at greater than 50-50.
I didn’t realize he had swung over to the left. Obama has to be feelin’ the love. Either that, or the swingers are feelin’ it. Lots of “evolving” going on out there.
Right to Rise has been bragging about how the were going to spend $20 million plus in advertising in NH, IA and SC in a couple of weeks but they haven’t filed their FEC forms for the supposed ad blitz. What are they waiting for?
And Jeb Campaign had to cut salaries and fire a bunch of their consultants in order to come up with $500k for an ad buy in NH.
Both Right To Rise and Jeb Campaign are in a fundraising meltdown.
Yep, and we aren’t backing down!
This is what Trump wants to do as POTUS and much, much more:
Specific Details:
Secure the border, keep America safe.
Bring back jobs from China and Mexico.
Re-energize America’s entrepreneurial spirit.
Preserve Social Security and Medicare via Strong US growth
(not by raising taxes)
Make America energy independent.
Rebuild our Military and world-standing.
(not slow them down)
Re-establish trust with our allies.
Undo all America-harming Obama policies/deals.
Require countries we protect to contribute financially instead of taxing America.
Rebuild our roads, bridges, electrical grid, airports.
Support our military personnel ad veterans.
Stop corporations from moving jobs out of America.
Restore national pride and the American dream.
Stop countries from stealing our military technology.
Reduce our crushing national debt.
Prohibit countries from manipulating their currencies so US companies can compete.
For the record, Sabato’s crystal ball under-predicted republican wins in all 3 categories in 14, yet he claimed it as a triumph of calculation.
He missed by 1 in the Senate, not bad. GOP went +9, he had predicted +8.
House he predicted +9, reality was plus 12.
Governors he missed badly, predicting a net loss for this GOP when the GOP actually gained governorship.
He claims a 99% accuracy rate, but when you are predicting 435 house seats every two years with and 80% ‘reelection rate, it does tend to help the numbers.
Larry and other mediot pundiots have been made so illevant by Trump, they have plead their bs on Politico, George $oreA$$`s pr site.
Partisan Media Shills alert -- three losers from Politico claim Jeb will be the best nominee. Thanks for the advice. The best Demagogic Party nominee would be Dennis Kucinich, with Cynthia as his running mate.
........
This is your campaign on Jeb.
Ripe. Very very ripe.
The number of pundits whistling past graveyards on account of Trump is too damn high! Them dead folks need their rest!
Im waiting for george stephtacoccus, cnn cbs msnbc abc the bbc to tell us who the next president will be becuase it’s not the people of the united states, right?
They’ve consistently gotten it wrong up till now, yet they continue to offer their predictions with such certainty. And the media wonders why we despise them.
