".....The reform-minded Trump of decades past is a far more attractive figure than his current incarnation, at least in the eyes of the pro-legalization advocates of today.
Well, I certainly think he had it right in 1990, and what he said then actually seemed to understand the situation, David Boaz, executive vice president of the libertarian Cato Institute, told The Daily Beast. My sense is that looking for consistent philosophy or even policies in Donald Trumps statements is a pretty fruitless exercise.
Boaz also pointed out that Trump recently voiced his support for medical marijuana, and that when asked about Colorado, the 2016 GOP contender essentially said that states should be able to decide on legalizing recreational weed. That actually puts him on the liberal wing of Republican presidential candidates in terms of drug policy, Boaz continued.
Im much more surprised that [Trump] ever got it right than I am that hes getting it wrong now, Matt Welch, editor in chief of Reason magazine, wrote in an email. Probably goes to show that if you spend decades just mindlessly and confidently blurting out whatever comes to mind, youll eventually hit on the right answer.....
...What Id like to do maybe by bringing it up is cause enough controversy that you get into a dialogue on the issue of drugs so people will start to realize that this is the only answer; there is no other answer, he said 25 years ago...

I am pro medical marijuana. My sister died from cancer and pot helped her with the nausea caused by the chemo.
Mrs. Will, you like many others misunderstood what Donald said. When he said, I like those who weren’t captured - he meant he was supporting those who have been wounded. It sure came out wrong, but, I guess since he isn’t Walker, he isn’t allowed to misspeak. Go back to your anti-Trump news articles now - I’m sure there are millions more you can find.
Walker, Walker, any relation to G. Walker Bush? Or his dad?
The same Donald who donated to John Kerry and Hillary Clinton [Trump said about Hillary as Sec of State: I think she really works hard and I think she does a good job. I like her,], who donated to Ted Kennedy, along with many others, like Reid, Pelosi, Schumer, Weiner, Rahm E., etc].
I’m all for legalization. The war on drugs has been an endless war on civil liberties. Move the money to treatment and defund the cartels at the same time. Take a look at how Portugal has decreased their previously exploding addict population through legalization.
Move a few $1000 in and out of your bank account several times and then tell me the wonders of the war on drugs.
Gov. Scott Walker Used to Run Marquette Students for Life ....."A lifelong supporter of the pro-life movement, my work defending the unborn goes back to my college days where I was a leader of Marquette Students for Life. "....
"Taking away in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants." [June 2011, 6 months into his 1st term - only state and gov to do this]
"Mandating immigration background checks in all 72 Wisconsin counties." [2011]
"Supporting a lawsuit to rollback on President Obamas executive action on immigration." [2014]
(CNN)Before Donald Trump was a front-running Republican presidential candidate, the real estate mogul believed that the nations economy ran better when Democrats were in control and that Hillary Clinton would be a strong negotiator with foreign nations.
In many cases, I probably identify more as Democrat, Trump told CNNs Wolf Blitzer in a 2004 interview. It just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans. Now, it shouldnt be that way. But if you go back, I mean it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats. ...But certainly we had some very good economies under Democrats, as well as Republicans. But weve had some pretty bad disaster under the Republicans....

Your post won't influence a single Trump supporter...It may however bring some Libertarians into the Trump fold...
The Trump supporters and those that will support Trump know that the problems we face are far bigger than Marijuana...It's not even an issue...
And the weddings go on and on and on.
Megachurch Pastor Paula White Marries 3rd Husband.. [Trump's evangelical connection]
August 30, 2015: ".......The invitation states Mr. Trump aims to meet with selected Christian leaders and ministry professionals. Ms. Withum referred questions about the invitation to Mr. Trumps aides.
Michael Cohen, the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, said the New York developer will meet with a significant number of pastors from across the country that will be coming to meet with Mr. Trump for a prayer service.
Mr. Cohen said the gathering is being organized not by the Trump campaign or the Trump Organization, which oversees Mr. Trumps business interests. Instead he said the evangelical community, led by Paula White, a Florida evangelical preacher with a daily television show on The Word Network, was arranging the session.".........
".......Whites e-store features a sermon called Why God Wants You Wealthy. Of course, Donald Trump wants people to be rich as well, which is why White once offered her viewersfor a ministry contribution of $25a copy of Trumps book Why We Want You to Be Rich. Everyone wants you to be rich! Praise the Lord!
Whites website has
interesting deals. One (your correspondents personal favorite) is called the 2015 Atonement Package....
Then read the entire thread, certainly there is something here that you might find off putting.
So, Trump’s positions are “wink-wink” like Obama’s and Hillary’s?
De-criminalize pot asap!!!
Go Trump!
And Trump gave $10,000 to Walker's campaign last June...Why didn't you mention that??? Surely in your research you came across that information...
i agree legalize it all and let natural selection take over
To some degree, he was right. A terrible hell has been released around the world and on our Rights here in “fighting a losing battle.”
I laughed at the Netherlands and their silly drug policies in the 80s - and now it is mostly foreigners that travel there to use drugs.
Thanks for posting Trumps insights.
I don't believe Trump misspoke...I believe he just gave the 'short' answer which he always does...Some people didn't get it...Others refused to get it...
Trump has let it be known time and again that he considers the military wounded/maimed and dead to be the Heroes among ALL the citizens whether he used the actual word or not...
His position has changed.
Trump is simply dishonest.
Yes! He did!
Trump gave Gov. Walker $10K ostensibly to help him in the recall election but it looks more like he needed a “talking point” for his political ambitions.
