The cable news networks are all breathlessly reporting that after a one-on-one meeting with Reince Priebus, Donald Trump has signed a pledge in which he promises to support the eventual Republican nominee, regardless of who it might be. I am sure that in the corridors of the RNC national headquarters, they are all slapping themselves on the back confident that eventually Trump will fade away and that they have averted a third party disaster.
In the first place, I dont think they have accomplished any such thing. I dont think its a foregone conclusion anymore that Trump will ever fade away the length of his stay at the top suggests an actual level of staying power rather than a momentary fling. But moreover, if Trump wants to run third party, he will run third party. This pledge will do nothing to stop him from doing so, or from throwing the election to Hillary if he does.

Now bush, graham, perry must all sign to support Trumps inevitable nomination
Trump met with GOPe prior to agreeing to sign. It was a negotiation. I’m not concerned.
Redstate?
If Trump is on the Texas Republican primary ballot, the “sore loser” law probably keeps him off the November ballot as an independent.
Without Texas, no non-Democrat has a prayer of winning POTUS.
So it’s pretty basic.
Yes, he will honor the pledge. I agree. He gained a lot by signing it, if for no other reason it is a short cut to registering on the ballot in upcoming states without the headaches and complications associated with an Independent run, and also because he removes the tool by which the Establishment was beating him about the head and shoulders!
Reports are also reminding us that the Pledge locks in all the other candidates to support HIM! LOL!! That took a lot of air out of the nay sayers and critics. ROTFL!
An agreement made under duress is null and void.
Do you have all those articles in a folder where you copy and paste? Lol. I think the Trump supporters have already pass that point overlooking everything you have highlighted. I have.

Yes, I wondered about that! Redstate?
So, If Trump wants to mess with their head, i hope he mixes in this quote;
If You like your loyalty oath, you can keep your loyalty oath.
Well, its hard to get cult members away from the koolaid.
I'm thinking we can finally put that conspiracy theory to bed.
Don't see how Trump can not get the nomination at this point. The man running second to him in all the polls is Ben Carson - another non-politician. The others are far behind. As Carson eventually fades, I don't see those supporters going to a conventional establishment Republican. They are going to switch allegiance to Trump.
Put Trump and Carson's poll numbers together and you are already close to 50% of the vote. These supporters are not going to wake up some morning and say "Gee whiz, what was I thinking? I think I'm going to support Jebbie Bush!"

Bah. If he had ripped the paper to shreds all you Trumpers would be ecstatic. He does the opposite and the cult of Trump still chalks it up as a win. The man can do now wrong to them.
LOL

Who cares. Trump immediately said that if he doesn’t think he’s being treated fairly then he’ll consider the GOP in breach of the contract and do whatever the hell he wants. Soooooooo we’re in exactly the same place before he made this silly pledge.
That you, Karl? Welcome to Free Republic!
I don’t think he was against it then for it. He played it out.
Now its to his advantage.
Trump gets more out of it than the pubbies:
They should drop any opposition to him appearing on any primary ballot.
He gets the nominal, at least, support and not active opposition.
The other candidates would have to support him if he wins the nomination.
He sways those who might have supported him but not at the party’s expense.
And if he chooses he can walk away and go 3rd party anyway.
