Rowan Co. Clerk Kim Davis will stay in custody

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis, a Democrat, will stay in custody.

It was a circus in Ashland today, as media, and protesters on both sides of the Kim Davis controversy came nose-to-nose outside the courthouse.

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis appeared before U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning at 11:00 this morning, Bunning had her taken into custody finding her in contempt for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples. Bunning told Davis that she would remain in jail until she complied with his order.

Davis said “thank you” and was taken from the courtroom by a U.S. Marshal. Davis was not taken out in handcuffs.

Judge Bunning then called Mrs. Davis’ six deputies into the courtroom, they were told they were free to issue licenses to all applicants while Davis was held in contempt, but if they did not comply they too would face fines or jail time.

Five of the six clerks said they would issue the licenses, the only one to hold out was Mrs. Davis’ son Nathan.

Judge Bunning was not done with Davis though, calling her back into court at 3:30 this afternoon, but Davis did not come. Instead she stayed in custody, her attorney appearing before the judge to tell him that she would not allow any employee to issue licenses in her absence.

Judge Bunning says he will keep Davis in jail for at least a week, and said “I hope that everyone will remain civil. This country has always had disagreements, but what makes this country different from other countries is that we respect the rule of law.”

Well, all law, except God's law, I suppose.

So when is he going to jail Obozo for breaking the immigration law?

Lying SOS. How dare he claim we “respect the rule of law” when the SCOTUS clearly does not.

He wants everyone to remain civil. Oh yeah. Sure. A big ol’ dose of CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE is what is needed here.

The last statement by Bunning is an outright lie.

We did before Liberal asswipes in Black robes sawed through the system upon which it was founded.

He needs to direct his comments up his chain of command, not downward.

It sounds like he’s going to perform the equivalent of a slap on the wrist. He knows how ridiculous it is, the situation he’s given himself to, and wants it to end so the eyes are not on him.

No, YOU don't. You are breaking the law.

I think he believes a week will be more than enough time to break her. I think he is right.

I hope I am wrong.

Immoral law is NOT law. Moral people have duty to disobey immoral law. G*d defines moral and immoral not the Supreme Court.

Judge Bunning, it is BECAUSE there are still Americans who respect the rule of law that it WON’T remail “civil” forever. Judges throwing out the legislated law and substituting their own opinion and out of thin air ISN’T CIVIL! I t is EVIL and un American.

This is a clear victory for liberals (in a way) who elected Obama. With the help of republicans they were able to pass the gay marriage law which, like it or not, is now the law of the land.

Kim Davis has the right to her beliefs and convictions, but she doesn't have the right to be county clerk if she will not obey the law.

This is no different from a clerk refusing to allow a black person to register to vote or approving an application for marriage to a mixed race couple.

The one semi positive thing it does do is enforce precedent to keep future Muslim clerks and officials from imposing Sharia.

“I hope that everyone will remain civil. This country has always had disagreements, but what makes this country different from other countries is that we respect the rule of law.”

If we respected the rule of law, then we wouldn't be enabling perverts to imprison conscientious objectors. This judge sounds like a typical liberal pussy who spits on conservatives and people of conscience, then demands they listen to their conscience and not "act up."

It's high time we act up. It's time to have a little chat with this judge. And with the two cows who put this good woman in jail to begin with.
