Five Chinese navy ships are currently operating in the Bering Sea, off the coast of Alaska, the first time the U.S. military has seen such activity in the area, Pentagon officials said Wednesday.
The officials said they have been aware in recent days that three Chinese combat ships, a replenishment vessel and an amphibious ship were in the vicinity after observing them moving toward the Aleutian Islands, which are split between U.S....

I’ve been kidnapped by Kmart!
Maybe they could drill for some oil and gas while they are there. Oh wait, Obamassiah would consider THAT an act of war.
AH you may be right I think some are still salmon tendering right now
They’re just trying to catch some FREE CRAB LEGS!.............
I wonder if it has to do with the disappearing NK subs?
The bigger the bear, the better the luck!.............and the white ones are especially good luck!.............
lol “The witch squealed!”
I wonder how many subs we have “escorting” these ships?
It would be funny if our Asian friends started hearing Paganini...
Thats all? They arent burning biobama $50 a gallon diesel?
They are trying to deliver all of Hillary’s emails.
Someting wong!
Paywall- drat.
What would they do with them? Last time I checked, they were on good terms with the Russians, and it’s out of range for the things that they’re interested in.
They may have a long reach with ICBMs, but they’re primarily a regional power.
We have an election coming up, and there might very well be a significant change in US policy. I don’t see them building airfields just to give them back to us when President %not Democrat% tightens the economic screws and has a carrier group nearby to back it up.
So why are they there? It’s not a sea lane for anything other than submarines. Puzzled. Are they trying to expand their influence? No idea.

Isn’t Todd Palin a fisherman? He’ll be the one on deck with a Javelin and an ax for boarding. :-)
Let's see if they can get 'em all home without a tow.
Correct.
UNLESS they ever decide to fire on the US Navy.
In that case they would live a short, but exciting life.
Absolutely no contest in Blue Water.
None.
What’s the question? I run the GA ping list. Just collect usernames of interested parties, keep them somewhere separated by semicolons. Cut-n-paste into the To: field in a post in the thread of interest. Easy peasy.
That’s what I would have thought- wanted to make sure I didn’t make any first timer ping list stupid mistakes. FR’s been here for a while now and...systems evolve sometimes. This one didn’t. Thank you. :-)
Speaking of crab legs, there's a stuffed? or dried crab above the EM bar on Adak.
The legs on it are at least 6ft long and as big around as a Budweiser bottle.
Fo course, when we flew in the entire crew had King Crab, a Filet and as many beer as we could drink.
The crab was "all you can eat.
$15.99 plus drinks and tip.
What a place.
We fund their operations, so it’s pointless to object.
However, their SLBMs cannot reach CONUS from either the South China Sea or the Yellow Sea. They have to come out in the Blue Water where the big dogs play to reach us from the sea.
And, you can hear them from 100 miles away in every direction out there.
