However it ends, Trump’s surge is historic

DERRY, N.H. — What was once flippantly deemed the Summer of Trump has evolved into something much bigger: a singular moment in American political and cultural history.

(snip)

Trump’s candidacy will be a moment that today’s voters will have to explain to their grandchildren.

“What is happening with Trump is not a fluke,” said Harvard government and sociology professor Theda Skocpol, author of “The Tea Party and the Remaking of Republican Conservatism.” “Yes, he is a great entertainer, but he is able to take advantage of a number of dynamics in American politics as they exist right now. This is an important moment.”

Trump is the personification of a 21st century America fascinated by the super rich and obsessed with celebrity, political historians said in interviews.

In politics, his assets provide massive available financing in a national race where money plays an unprecedented role. A hyper-fast media environment means Trump’s candid comments and jaw-dropping insults, such as his jab at US Senator John McCain’s respected military service, permeate Facebook feeds, quickly making him the most-discussed candidate in the field, according to social media analytics.

I really noticed that when he caressed the flag and brushed his cheek against it, he had an expression of reverent pleasure on his face.
He loves this Country, he loves that flag and he loves the salt of the earth people who make it work; who have been screwed over by DC for several decades.

To me, that little 10 second scene was Donald letting down his guard and giving us a look straight into his heart. He felt he could take the risk of doing that because of his confidence in the truth and genuineness of the people who’d come out to hear him speak. IMHO.

It is not based on factual issues,” said White, who also noted similarities in how both candidates dress in flamboyant suits and use fiery rhetoric toward minorities. “The oversimplification of issues is very dangerous...

Yawn... one more liberal elite looking down on the people... Maybe a picture or two of the flamboyant suits would have helped... the picture with the article shows Trump in a blue suit with tie...

Here's what concerns me about Trump.

Trump is a friend of the Clintons.

In Both previous Clinton Presidential elections an outspoken millionaire ran as a third party candidate and split the anti-Clinton vote

Hillary is the presumptive Democrat candidate

Ross Perot also had weird hair

The kids in the photo at the link don't look like old anger white males we've all been hearing about.
No they don't. They look like they want the country their parents and grandparents told them about.

The media is at war with Trump. He won’t fight on their turf. He won’t accept the PC language they want to engage with; He’s going to call Anchor Babies, Anchor Babies, and illegals, illegals

And that is why conservatives, and indeed, Americans of all political persuasions, are warming up to Trump. He is speaking the plain, un-nuanced truth.

I think it's completely fair to say that we've never seen any one man do so much to break the stranglehold of the media and the Uniparty. And he's only getting started!

Geeez, this is glorious to behold.

You can search the phrase, ‘no holds barred’ on any search engine and the original meaning will come up. Works for any common phrase or idiom.

Some weeks ago, in his reborn Bloom County strip on Facebook, Berkeley Breathed, a left leaning moderate who has skewered both the left and right in the past, may have tipped his hand about changing his opinion of The Donald. I won’t spoil the entire thing, but I will quote the salient bits of my little thesis:

Binkley (about Trump): “You’re not the nightmare, he is!!”

Snorklewacker (a closet monster): “But also oddly appealing! And very very honest. Quite refreshing, really. No baloney.”

And finally, Snorklewacker, who earlier had claimed that Trump wanted to deport him, finished with “You know, I am a little bad. I eat children.”

Snorklewacker then happily poinks his way back to the closet. I take his admission as an affirmation from this not-too moonbat lefty, that the current invasion of illegals does have some deleterious effects.

I’m really glad that Opus and Bloom County have returned, and you all know by now that I’m anything but a lefty. You can enjoy his work on FB without signing up, I’m happy to report.

Nah....he's a rebel and a rock star and that's all they know. I doubt if they've debated his positions on anything! They like him because he can say whatever he wants to and they would LOVE to be at that point in their young lives!

[not sure where the phrase came from from but it sounds like your holds are not barred or shored up so everything is flying around loose in the hold — bottom part of the ship.]

The phrase “no holds barred” comes from a fight, boxing, wrestling match. The prevailing rules were the Queensberry (sp?) rules of engagement. So, “no holds barred” means have at it guys, anything goes.

Trump is not my candidate, but I'm thoroughly enjoining the amusement of the media and establishment's flailing inability to cope with him.
And I do appreciate Trump putting the decline of Fox News into a spotlight.
