Birthers Say These 4 GOP Candidates May Be Ineligible To Be President
Taking Points Memo ^ | August 17, 2015 | Cahterine Thompson

The birther movement has come home to roost as the Republican presidential primary heats up.

In a column published last week on the conspiracy theory website WND, author Jack Cashill noted that questions had been raised about whether four of the 17 candidates in the GOP field were really "natural born citizens" and therefore eligible to run for President.

A rather interesting interview with Jack Cashill on Clinton's Birther Movement and how it might impact the 2016 Republican candidates. As Jack Cashill concludes: "It’s not a question of race, it’s not a question of even ethnicity. It’s a question of where a person was born and to whom the person was born."

Yes, it is a matter of how we define same or different "citizen" and "natural born citizen". As one that questioned Obama's eligibility, I do think it fair and necessary that the same question be raised of others.

Since Trump questioned Obama's eligibility, I wonder what he might make of Cruz, Rubio, Jindal, and Santorum's eligibility?

I didn’t know Santorum was also ineligible. What’s his story?

According to Cashill there is some question on whether his father was a citizen.

the founders wanted to insure no split loyalties, at least by birth.
they also wanted to make sure no foreign king could ever become POTUS.

these were the motivations behind using the phrase ‘natural born citizen’

understanding that, please explain how the phrase insures it. what does it exclude?

You can look up all the definitions as easily as I. I would rather that you just say whatever it is you are trying to say - without data to the contrary, I must assume you think that my comment about "none of them are ineligible except for probably Obama" was wrong. Give me something to work with and I'll be glad to have a conversation.

If they are going to worry about father’s citizenship, isn’t that theoretically up for grabs cor EVERYBODY barring a DNA test?

After Obama, this kind of ineligibility is no longer valid. Also college records are not necessary any more. What a legacy he has given history.

Not to democrats

Rules and laws don’t apply to them, only to Republicans and they will go into the courts to make a mess against any republican for any reason

Or no reason

Remember the term that emerged from the tactic of “death by a thousand cuts”, using the courts to harass a politician into professional paralysis and personal bankruptcy?

” palinized”

i’ve stated it numerous times and i’m tired of explaining the logically obvious over and over.

i’ve decided to ask a ‘believer’ what you believe a natural born citizen is, how these folks fit the definition, and how that jives with the Constitution and Founders intention.

The courts have not agreed.

Taitz v. Obama (Quo Warranto) “This is one of several such suits filed by Ms. Taitz in her quixotic attempt to prove that President Obama is not a natural born citizen, as is required by the Constitution. This Court is not willing to go tilting at windmills with her.”— Chief U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, April 14, 2010

Purpura & Moran v Obama: New Jersey Administrative Law Judge Jeff S. Masin: “No court, federal, state or administrative, has accepted the challengers’ position that Mr. Obama is not a “natural born Citizen” due to the acknowledged fact that his father was born in Kenya and was a British citizen by virtue of the then applicable British Nationality Act. Nor has the fact that Obama had, or may have had, dual citizenship at the time of his birth and thereafter been held to deny him the status of natural born. It is unnecessary to reinvent the wheel here. The petitioners’ legal position on this issue, however well intentioned, has no merit in law. Thus, accepting for the point of this issue that Mr. Obama was born in Hawaii, he is a ‘natural born Citizen’ regardless of the status of his father.” April 10, 2012

Rhodes v MacDonald, U.S. District Court Judge Clay D. Land: “A spurious claim questioning the president’s constitutional legitimacy may be protected by the First Amendment, but a Court’s placement of its imprimatur upon a claim that is so lacking in factual support that it is frivolous would undoubtedly disserve the public interest.”—U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, September 16, 2009.

Allen v Obama, Arizona Superior Court Judge Richard E. Gordon: “Arizona courts are bound by United States Supreme Court precedent in construing the United States Constitution, and this precedent fully supports that President Obama is a natural born citizen under the Constitution and thus qualified to hold the office of President. Contrary to Plaintiff’s assertion, Minor v. Happersett, 88 U.S. 162 (1874), does not hold otherwise.”—Pima County Superior Court, Tuscon, Arizona, March 7, 2012
