Glenn Beck absolutely befuddled by pro-Trump Republican entertainers (Coulter and Co.)
Washington Examiner ^ | 8/14/2015 | T. Becket Adams

Posted on 08/15/2015 1:59:14 PM PDT by Laissez-faire capitalist

Many Republican entertainers are clearly smitten with former reality TV star Donald Trump, but for conservative commentator Glenn beck, this makes no sense.

Trump, a longtime crony capitalist, supports many liberal positions, including increased gun control and single-payer healthcare. ...

"I get it if you are tired of politicians, A Republican progressive, or you are only about winning," Beck wrote in a message posted at Facebook [link at URL]. "Perhaps you are angry and you just want to make someone pay or just want something done and you don't carte how it gets done, but what PRINCIPLES does he have that they are attracted to?"

"I really want to understand," he added.

Beck listed off a handful of reasons why conservatives should cringe at the thought of Trump's candidacy.

"[Trump] said he identifies his 'policies more as a Democrat'; he makes Obama look truly humble' he was very pro abortion until very recently;; he still says 'don't defund Planned Parenthood'; he is pro 'assault weapons ban'; he is in favor of a wealth tax that would just 'take money out of people's bank accounts'; he is for boots on the ground in Iraq and 'taking the oil' from the Iraqi people; he is a progressive 'Republican'; he says single payer health care works; he said he would give people more than just Obama care," Beck wrote.

"[T]he first Lady would be the first to have posed nude in lesbian porno shots; he said that he keeps all the bibles he is given in a 'special place' outside the city - and he only goes to church on Christmas and Easter; he is generally not a likable guy; he has around 16% favorability with Hispanics and he has gone bankrupt 4 times," he added. ...

I think Trump could be a really good guy; I definitely feel that way, but so much has been given to him by way of gifts from our Lord, that he doesn’t even seem to be able to grasp these things, and he continues on being a “side show.”

I pray he wakes up and supports ALL life from womb to tomb, and that he starts treating women, in general, with more respect. They have the hardest [and most important] jobs in the world. Bringing up sweet [and godly, S-T-R-O-N-G] children to carry on.... while their fathers work their behinds off for their families ..

I’ve been very heartened to see Cruz out and about in the south recently.

He is definitely doing what he needs to do to be seen and heard.

Get out there and talk to as many people as you can, and tell them your beliefs.

Go Cruz!

He isn’t only talking...he’s opening offices and setting up staff in state after state.

He knows what it takes to win, and he’s playing a very long game.

I liked Beck on Fox tv and felt his show was hard hitting and informative as well as visionary. He left Fox and he was very scattered and diffused as well as focused on religion so much it was hard to know what you would see and hear next. My neighbors who are Democrats had him on Dish network and the lady told me he is all over the place and too hard for her to follow. I am one to glean what I can from many people but the substance on his radio show is scattered in between hour long laugh fests. When he said he will not mention Trump on his show I am sure his ratings went down as Trump was surging to the top. Those who see Trumps supporters think they are enchanted and seduced by him but the truth is, Trump supporters see he is able to stand up to the corrupt sellouts in our govt., and he can also make a pathway for more decent people to follow in his trail.

I don’t disagree but Trump is meeting with Sen. Jeff Sessions to hone his immigration stance.

Oh really? You know that how? What if his purpose was to APPEAR to be serious? Wouldn't he do the same thing?

I honestly like what Trump is saying and doing but it does seem he could turn on these issues. That is a bit scary.

He's already said that he will in so many terms. The man employs huge numbers of illegals in the hotel, construction, and golf course businesses. He's made a reputation of stiffing contractors and lenders. And you trust him why?

I agree. So far, Trump is the only candidate to come down hard on (illegal) immigration. He’s also challenging political correctness, which may be the biggest problem we face.

Glenn Beck has become an “an all about me” guy. I think it kills him that any one other than himself who could be popular. Glenn is too arrogant.

The Catholic bishops have done all they can to make sure that the Catholic laity do not give political victories to pro-life candidates. IOW: The bishops have been doing their utmost to make sure the U.S. is destroyed, because pro-abortion politicians will destroy it.

Now, the bishops are doing their utmost to make sure that the U.S. is destroyed by overwhelming waves of immigration. In this, their allies are, as always, pro-abortion politicians.

I don’t much care for Beck- but I understand his questions and why he’s apparently not “getting Trump”.

Of course, there’s always a gut thing that goes on with each of us- he really supported Romney while many of us shook our head. But- Beck didn’t care, understand or see where Romney was wrong, two-faced or dishonest. He apparently saw other qualities he thought more important. So it is with Trump. While he has plenty of shortcomings, he has something else that makes people look past them.

I still haven’t decided- but I’m watching and listening and paying attention. I know some very bright and politically intelligent people who are behind Trump 100%. Also some who voted for the current president and find themselves regretful and scared. They might be the “low information voters” but they’re really worried about the country. So far, I have noticed a real mixed bag of Trump supporters.

Beck could’t see past religious affiliation when it came to Romney. I wonder how Trump is playing in Utah? If he looks weaker there than elsewhere, maybe there’s something off-putting to Mormons about Trump, and Beck is just a bellwether again.

It is interesting that Beck gets this criticism, deservedly or not, I thought Beck is basically a Cruz supporter, somewhat at least.
