Last Wednesday, a small EPA-supervised work crew inspecting the Gold King mine accidentally knocked a hole in a waste pit, releasing at least three million gallons of acidic liquid laden with toxic heavy metals. (ABC)
This letter to editor, posted below, was published in The Silverton Standard and The Miner local newspaper, authored by a retired geologist, one week before EPA mine spill. The letter detailed verbatim, how EPA officials would foul up the Animas River on purpose in order to secure superfund money. It the Gold King mine was declared a superfund site it would essentially kill future development for the mining industry. The Obama EPA is vehemently opposed to mining and development
The EPA pushed for nearly 25 years, to apply its Superfund program to the Gold King mine. If a leak occurred the EPA would then receive superfund status. That is exactly what happened.
The EPA today admitted they misjudged the pressure in the gold mine before the spill just as this editorial predicted.
The letter was included in their print edition on July 30, 2015. The spill occurred one week later.

IMMEDIATE Congressional investigations in both Houses should proceed forthwith!
letter writer should be invited as first witness.
Wow, but I shouldn’t really be surprised.
It reminds me of a phrase we coined as kids: “accidentally on purpose”.
God Bless Dave Taylor, too. I hope people heeded his advice and got baseline samples from their water sources.
how can one "accidentally" destroy a dam?
"Damn"
...or something like that.
From the letter, the results were entirely predictable, and the longer it took to break through, the worse the disaster (more water backed up with more hydrostatic pressure).
If Lickenhooper claims to have been a Geologist, I wonder who he worked for?
Killer toon there...
This was NO accident. Time for an independent IG to identify who deliberately caused the leakage to occur, and put thousands of lives at risk— all to get superfund money so they can employ even more people to ‘treat’ the water after it has already destroyed the basin quality.
They’re doing it because they know no one will stop them.
If I was Obama, I’d be laughing and pissing in your faces too. :)
Please do NOT distribute a cut up version. The original, with the original publication date intact, is the best evidence. Note that versions of the Planned Parenthood videos were cut down just so that people woudln’t have to sit through dull minutes of unrelated content and EVERY MSM report refers to them as “edited”. Leave the clipping as it is.
I simply directed my browser to “zoom in” one level and the test is then displayed at a much larger size
other browsers have similar commands
IIRC, C.W. McCall actually wrote a song about this particular stretch of railway, "The Silverton Train"...
the infowarrior
My friend thinks the EPA did this on purpose - it’s too big - this sure fits in with that theory.
If there isn’t a mess...create a mess.
Kind of like the ongoing immigration train wreck that hasn’t stopped. And everything else, for that matter.
I find it extremely difficult to believe it was an accident as well.
screw it. The edited version is readable. The sheep wont read down to the pertinent information.
Thanks crz !
