A black delivery driver was told by his manager that he would not be making a delivery because the customer had said she only wanted a white driver in her house.
Marcus Bradley, an African American, who has worked for Lowe's Home Improvement for the last 11 years, was left devastated after his manager complied with the customer's outrageous wish.
The shocking incident reportedly happened in the city of Danville, situated in the US state of Virginia.

“The customer told reporters that she could ask for whatever she wanted.”
Customers can ask for whatever they want, but that does not require a business to give it to them.

Correct, correct, and correct.
Yes, you have a racist customer, but why make it public?
And how fragile is the driver if this one jerk leaves him “devastated”?

I’d wager that they just schedule black drivers to deliver to areas with black customers, without even having a customer request.

As a person of a certain color, its their house and their rules, if I was a business owner though I would have told them to take a hike and I would not have disrepected one of my hard working workers, and they are free to come to the store or go somewhere else.

So what? don’t use this to accuse the rest of Americans of racism.

I do not think it is racist for the woman to have asked for a white person. Just like I don’t think it is racist to PUSH BACK on the plan by HUD to put people based on color into neighborhoods that they could not afford to be in.
I do not think it was right for her information to be leaked
out.

The manager was fired, not for making it public, but for accommodating the racist request in the first place. And rightfully so. The managers response to the idiotic request should have been that the delivery would be made by the driver assigned to that route (whoever that driver was), and that if the customer did not want to accept delivery for whatever reason, she was free to refuse delivery, take her business elsewhere, and pay a restocking fee.Is it okay if I say again what you just said?

Gonna wait to see before believing. I worked in NW Fla (aka Lower Alabama) in the early 70s at a furniture warehouse. Every single delivery person was black except for me. I never heard of a single person refusing a delivery or asking for a different driver. And again, this was the early 70s.
How dumb would you have to be to pay for items and not let someone deliver them? These days you’re lucky to get your items at all.

Bingo. And not only that, if the driver was devasted by the existence of one racist customer, then hes too flaky to drive a truck safely. My guess is that a black truck driver would not use the word "devastated" (just like you couldn't). That was a reporter word. He was probably "pissed" he was pulled off his route.

Well it’s not like the driver was likely to get a tip anyway.

I’m not sure whether I’d fire this manager for one act of stupidity, but if I did I’d consider the driver as a replacement for him if he’s qualified.

Don’t think this is believable.
One woman customer complained, and the black delivery driver is fired/let go.
