On Trump, Erick Erickson Rises To The Occasion (Rush Limbaugh Does Not)
Daily Caller ^ | 08/08/2015 | Matt K. Lewis

Posted on 08/08/2015 5:42:03 PM PDT by nhwingut

A while back, I urged Rush Limbaugh to use his incredible influence on the right and call out Donald Trump for his irresponsible comments. In the intervening weeks, Trump’s rhetoric only intensified. Yet, even after Thursday night’s GOP debate — when it became painfully obvious that Donald Trump is a liberal — Limbaugh continued to prop up The Donald. I don’t want to be accused of misrepresenting what he said, so I’ll simply provide the headline and link from his own website: “The Orders to Take Out Trump Must Have Gone to Fox, Not the Other Candidates.”

Even if Mr. Limbaugh buys this conspiracy theory that Fox News is somehow in cahoots with the Republican “establishment” to go after Trump (frankly, they were pretty hard on all the candidates), and even if Mr. Limbaugh doesn’t care about Trump’s unchivalrous attacks on Megyn Kelly, why is he so unconcerned about Trump’s obvious liberalism?

You do know the ACU is rum by the likes of Grover Norquist and Carly Fiorina these days, right? Do you know what Matt Schlapp stands for?

I listen to Rush every day and see the posts others make here about his show. The article which is the subject of this thread was accurate as far as what Rush said and implied.

It is important to remember that Rush and Roger Ailes are big buddies and business partners from way back. One thing Rush wanted to do, and it was evident from what he said Friday, was pump up the ratings for Fox News. I don’t know why Rush is that concerned with the Nielsens or Apple shares for that matter, but he is.

He also has a strange way of praising Trump while at the same time giving him the back of his hand. I still don’t know which candidate Rush prefers. Remember 08 when he somewhat cryptically named Romney as his choice in the Florida primary? Could be be playing some kind of game with his choice this next election?

Erickson is a moron Rush is not. We may be witnessing the beginning of the end of the GOP hastened by the FOX news mercenaries and their ignorant compadres RINO’s. I dont care much for trump but they way they are playing him is gonna get them hurt.

Wow. The establishment is all in – sending flying monkeys after Limbaugh. Anyone remotely supporting Trump must be harmed, and apparently they have decided the time has come for Rush, the largest voice of independent thinkers, to be removed. Lewis means nothing, this is more than Trump now, the left and the establishment have decided to end Limbaugh. Just Wow.

Many people are Democrat-Republicans... WHY?..

Because they don’t really know or even care what either is...
Lazy mentally.. totally self absorbed... politics is entertainment.. “a Sport”.. “a Dalliance”..

At least most of the people I know...
Theres a few socialists that even know what it is...
But what gets me is the capitalists that do not know what capitalism is..

Americas APATHY is completely understandable...
Generally “we” have gotten lazy mentally and in some cases physically..

JUST TRY to get a republican to reject a givernment check or benefit..
Old people have been brain washed by democrats for a hundred years to think the givernment owes them something..

When..... the SocSec system was even bankrupt before it started..
The idea of it was bankrupt.. several people said it too..
A federal givernment power grab.. pretty much like NOW...
Same thing now as then...

Americans have no idea of what Socialism and Capitalism “ IS “.... none at all..
therefore NONE can make it all simple..

Rush is resisting the colonization of the United States by spanish speaking foreigners.
The Cheap Labor Express wants all those voices silenced.
Especially Trump right now.
He has people thinking we can stop the inundation.

Matt Lewis has been a propagandist for them for many years.

"I still don’t know which candidate Rush prefers."

A few weeks ago during a call, he said "Repeat after me, Walker/Fiorina, Walker/Fiorina" .

“When the DC Cartel beast is done with Trump they will turn on Cruz.”

No doubt.

Weeks ago, I started to notice at least three articles in separate publications that were less than flattering to Cruz - and for absolutely no reason! The short knives are out for him and the long ones are being sharpened.

The answer, in my view, is lose the GOP now, and Trump and Cruz for their own independent alliance and go for it. The money’s there. The support is certainly there. And the GOPe will not allow anyone but Bush get the nod.

If you agree that Jeb has no chance against Hillary, then we have nothing to lose by T & C going third party, and everything to gain.

How I think the conversations went:

“Trump must be removed, if only because if we don’t there will be more Trumps in the future. Make no mistake, everything we have is at risk, this MUST be ended in such a way NO ONE will try this again.”

“Well, what do we do about Limbaugh?.” Mumbling, then someone says “It’s time, he needs to go.” Mumbles of agreement and then someone else says “Well what about Drudge?”, quiet and then “Him too, it’s time.” Mumbles of agreement.

Limbaugh has not been a cheerleader, but an observer.

It’s interesting to watch them drag Limbaugh in...

They want Limbaugh to disavow Trump, and I doubt that Limbaugh will take the bait.

I really don’t think Trump WANTS to go 3rd Party. He has said as much. He’s said he wants to run as an R.

But what he means about keeping his options open is that when we arrive at the Convention next year, and if he has continued to lead in all the polls, and has won most of the primaries....and if at that point, the GOPe suits go into a smoke filled room and decide to ignore Trump and instead anoint Jeb and declare Jeb the official Candidate, or some variation of stealing the nomination from him....he’s reserving the right to honor the wishes of all those who voted for him in the primaries, and run 3rd Party.

Trump has already said that if he falls in the polls, and does not do well in the primaries he will accept that, and ride off into the sunset.

Actually, of all of the pundits, commentators, and journos I've heard, Rush has been about the fairest. He has raised the issue of Trump's past liberalism, and he has understood -- more clearly than just about anyone else -- why Trump is getting what the leftists consider "astonishing" traction.

It's not Rush's job to pick the nominee. In every election cycle we get this criticism that Limbaugh needs to step up and be responsible. He is being responsible, much more responsible than the people who claim to be "Fair and Balanced." I'm not a Trump fan, myself, but I remain, as always, a Rush fan.

Erick Erickson's overreaching decision to interpret the "blood was coming out of whatever" in the least charitable way and to disqualify Trump was detestable. That is why Erick Erickson will never have the influence of Rush Limbaugh.
