Almost Every Major Poll Shows Bernie Sanders Challenging or Defeating Clinton and Republicans
Huff Po ^ | August 5, 2015 | H. A. Goodman

Posted on 08/05/2015 5:45:22 AM PDT by Din Maker

Democrats who are proud of their progressive values are filling arenas to hear Sanders speak in a direct manner (while others dodge questions) on contentious issues like Keystone XL and the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement. While the FBI is currently investigating the email security of one candidate, Bernie Sanders is narrowing Clinton's lead nationally and defeating Republicans in other polls. Like Brent Budowsky writes in The Hill:

The fact that Sanders beats Walker by 6 to 7 points, depending on whether all voters or likely voters are counted -- a near-landslide margin in a general election -- makes it clear that the Sanders surge is more than a surge against Donald Trump, but move that makes him competitive with all candidates.

With Sanders already surging in Iowa, and now virtually tied with Clinton in New Hampshire, it's important to remember that Vermont's Senator is doing something most observers once thought to be an impossibility. He has a great chance of winning the first two contests on the road to the Democratic nomination, while his challenger deals with subpoenas from Congress and other scandals. Every classified email uncovered by the FBI dooms one candidate, while paving the way for Sanders.

In several matchups in Iowa and Colorado, Bernie Sanders runs as well as, or better than Clinton against Rubio, Bush and Walker. Hillary Clinton's numbers have dropped among voters in the key swing states of Colorado, Iowa and Virginia. She has lost ground in the horserace and on key questions about her honesty and leadership.

Honesty and a genuine value system are the primary reasons Bernie Sanders is gaining in the polls. Bernie Sanders reminds voters of an ideal. It's this ideal that will enable Sanders to surge past Clinton and towards the Democratic nomination.

“To advocate socialism requires a large amount of ignorance and a little hatred, resentment, and class envy.”

I'd put that one in Bartlett's Book of Quotations, but I have a hunch that the editors' political bias would censor it.

The entire dem party is socialist, but Bernie is the first candidate since McGovern to admit to fess up to it.

And yes, absurdity is what they champion. Every. Last. One.

Sanders couldn’t beat Walker or any other competent GOP candidate, which is why he will not be allowed to beat Hillary.

Hillary can sue to get him taken off state ballot during the nomination process.

I certainly should hope so!

...he will not be allowed to beat Hillary.

I heard today (on Rush's show?) that the DNC (which her Royal Thighness apparently controls) is not permitting any Democratic presidential debates. That's important, and indicative of the totalitarian mentality of the party, but how far are they willing to go to "not allow" Sanders to beat her at the risk of suffering dissention from the hard left?

Nonsense...nobody in the general public even knows who Bernie Sanders is. Once people know he’s a socialist and proud of it the real numbers will show.

Bernie Sanders is a Hillary problem, not a GOP problem. If he lasts until late spring 2016, then we should take notice. For now? Don’t waste a dime or a minute on oppo research.

Comment worthy of a BTTT. I also consider the source of the drumbeat "BS beats all comers" ... in this case the HuffPo; in many cases, the WashPo, NYT, MSNBC, et al.

Those same polls show half the people queried have no idea who he is.

Hillary can sue to get him taken off state ballot during the nomination process.

On what grounds? The only possible thing would be that the Sanders organization would screw up on the on names and numbers on the petitions for the primary ballot.

He can’t win the general election (I believe that). Their overriding goal is to win it. Therefore they will stop him at all costs if he turns out to be a real threat to Hillary. The vast majority of the far left will fall in line and vote D like good little soldiers next November, when Sanders’ campaign will be a distant memory. Sanders himself, unlike Trump, has ruled out a third party bid because he doesn’t want to see a Republican elected.

Knowing her history, "an offer he can't refuse" wouldn't be out of the question.

Bernie is not a Democrat. It does not matter that he caucuses with them. He could not be the Democrat candidate, but he sure could run third party. THAT is what freaks Democrats out.

Correct. Sanders is NOT a Democrat. Some think that Hillary is going to bring that up eventually when it is politically expedient for her. I do NOT think she will push the issue, for this reason:

If the DNC rules that Sanders is not a Democrat, he's an Independent, an therefore NOT eligible for the DemocRAT nomination, you can bet your booty he will run as an Independent on a Third Party Ticket and Hillary will NEVER be the first woman President of the U.S.
THIS IS A WIN-WIN FOR OUR TEAM GUYS!

Leftism should be a target ... but it has been nearly 30 years since a Republican candidate for President has attacked his Democrat opponent for his embrace of the core leftist doctrines of libertinism, redistribution, and state control of productive enterprise and private property. The last time we really saw it was George H.W. Bush against Dukakis.

The appeal of Bernie is he is going to give everybody free sh!t and nobody will have to work or bother with trying to make a living or doing anything except chill out. That really appeals to a lot of people.

Just look at the states that have decriminalized pot. They are crawling with those voters and when they join up with the usual radicals, fat-assed unionists, government "workers", $15 minimum wagers, feminists, free Amnesty people, blacks, and third world legal and illegal immigrants they are a very large segment.

I am not so sure they are a minority any more. The Democrats have radically changed the culture and demographics since Reagan.
