Trump: What You Don't See Is What You Will Get
The American Thinker ^ | August 5, 2016 | Gene Schwimmer

Posted on 08/05/2015 12:02:43 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

".......This writer will not attempt to dissuade the Trump-o-philes from their ardor. If one’s idea of a Joe-Six-pack-cares-about-guys-like-me-populist is an arrogant brat in grownup clothing, who pulled himself up by the multimillion-dollar bootstraps he received and ultimately inherited from his daddy, a guy who builds luxury apartments that, one suspects, few of his supporters could ever dream of affording, then, by all means, vote for the guy.

What this writer can do is show Trump’s supporters – and make it impossible for them to say, should this life-imitates-Elmer-Gantry snake oil salesman become president, that they didn’t know – what they, and the United States of America, would be getting.

First and most important, Donald Trump is not a Republican. Nor is he a Democrat. Donald Trump is a businessman and an opportunist. And would be, if his supporters get their way, the first Republican president who, at least as of April 26, 2011, has given most of his financial support to Democrats:

The real estate mogul and “Celebrity Apprentice” host has made more than $1.3 million in donations over the years to candidates nationwide, with 54 percent of the money going to Democrats, according to a Washington Post analysis of state and federal disclosure records.

Does that sound like someone committed to Republican values, let alone conservatives values? Not exactly the Koch Brothers, especially when one looks at just who some of these recipients of Trump largess were, such stalwart Republicans as:

Harry Reid
Rahm Rmanuel
John F. Kerry
Charlie Rangel
Chuck Schumer
Teddy Kennedy
Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton? Well, one hopes that he will refrain from contributing to Clinton 2016 if and when he finds himself running against her. On the other hand, don’t assume that he won’t. Could be bad for business, post-election, if Hillary wins...................."

Just as pointedly unfair as the unfair attacks on Walker’s economy in Wisconsin....Throwing a few facts into an opinion piece and calling it “settled science”...

Yup.

He fights back which is enough. We like Walker, but Trump knows how to beat the media at their own game and has shown real guts.

Pray America is waking

I like Walker and will support him if he is the nominee or if Trump implodes, which should happen any day now according to 99% of the media.

But I like Trump/Cruz as a possible ticket more than any other possibility, at least for now.

American Thinker is approaching the shark.

Too bad--I've found it to be a good read over the years.

You’re absolutely correct, there is no news in the fact a NY/NJ/FL real estate developer bought politicians and was given favorable treatment by government officials in exchange for campaign contributions.

I don’t think anybody was surprised Don T — despite loose ties to mob figures and criminals — was given a casino license by the NJ commission on casinos while companies like Hilton were denied at the same time and place for even more tenuous ties to organized crime.

Good ole, run-of-the-mill crony government corruption.

The force at work is charisma......The Donald has it by the bushel

With the exception of Ted Cruz and maybe Scott Walker , all the rest are dry cods. They lack the character to project the leadership ability they may have. They are workmanlike politicos that have reached their highest level and their hides thickened by being constantly beat on prevents the release of enthusiastic effort

Ted Cruz projects well but his projection is still rather dry. Scott Walker projects serious accomplishment but does not really fire up the electorate.

The ability to project boisterous enthusiasm has bumped the Donald to the top of the heap. The relative fearless crossing of PC lines resonates his charisma in a very likeable manner

my observations.....

meanwhile....... Go Scott!!

this guy starts the article trying to shame trump because he's wealthy. That's not a good way to start and he clearly doesn't "get" why people like Trump. If how a person voted in the past was a predictor of future behavior, we wouldn't be bitching about the LAST FOUR YEARS of crappy GOP rule in the House and Senate - who, despite their "record" have done absolutely NOTHING to stop Obama.

People want Trump because they know he will fight. Period.

"...the author nobody's ever heard of doesn't get to determine who is or who isn't a Republican." Only famous people can opine? He's expressing an opinion, not announcing a dictate. Disagree if you like, but at least refute what he is saying. Just to be clear, so you're cool with what Solyndra did to get money from the Obama administration, right? You are all for crony government, especially for developers?

"...he can’t be bought."

And you make that assumption because why?

Because he's the buyer?

The uni-party and the media have a symbiotic relationship. Politicians and talking heads need each other. They have lifestyles of the rich and famous, while keeping us fighting among ourselves. Donald Trump is an outsider who threatens their arrangement.

Bad strawman. Trump wouldn't be Trump without his history so he wouldn't have the experience to get to this point. Would you still support Walker or Perry if they hadn't been governors?

He’s is a $10 Billion Archie Bunker.

Except it was clear to all what Archie believed. Wysiwyg. I'm not quite as certain what Donald Trump believes.

Get the popcorn?

Hell this attack is now as old, boring, and ineffective, as the hills.

All it proves is the author hasn’t listened to any Trump interviews.

Who’s “we?”

Trump’s negatives are as high as Hillary’s.

Re Trump:

Yes, Could See Self Supporting 47%

Now I’m going to read you the names of several public figures, groups and organizations, and I’d like you to rate your feelings toward each one as very positive, somewhat positive, neutral, somewhat negative, or very negative. If you don’t know the name, please just say so.

Donald Trump
