House Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) had been planning to call up on the House floor last week a measure from Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) that would have removed him as Speaker of the House if it succeededintending to embarrass Meadowsbut abandoned the plan after his entire leadership structure learned that they did not have the votes to re-elect him as Speaker before the August recess.
[House Majority Leader Kevin] McCarthy was making phone callshe was whipping itand so was [House Majority Whip] Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), a senior conservative movement leader whos had many personal and direct discussions with various House GOP members about this told Breitbart News in an interview last week.
I know members personally who were called by Steve Scalise. So they had the entire leadership whip team frantically making phone calls to members to whip the vote because they wanted to attempt to embarrass Meadows and call the vote [on Wednesday last week] so its not hanging over Boehners head.
What they found out was the exact opposite. They found out bad things would happen, that literally they would be calling the vote without knowing what would happen. Therefore, they did not call the vote and now they have this issue hanging over John Boehners head for the next five weeks.

There’s bad and there’s worse. Boehner is bad. Pelosi is worse.
Perspective.
Get rid of him so he can keep playing Golf with the Dear Leader without any repercussions.
go Meadows!
Finally someone with some stones!
THE PREMIER APPEARANCE.of Jonnie Bonehead without the MASK/
If this is true, conservative reps are stupid. If they had claimed to favor boner’s continued service, they would have had their vote and would have been able to unelect him. Their honesty betrayed their objective.
The comments there are great! LOL!
Boehner must go! And take all of the RINOs with him.
Absolutely!
First Eric Cantor, now Boehner. Maybe the puppeteers will see this is a major problem.
Where oh where are our liberal-republicans who advocated for Boehner and McConnell?
Don’t name them if you don’t ping them!
Ping
some of our friends did that in 2012 and the nation is paying a bitter price.
It was amusing to see!
Not how it works.
Pelosi would not become speaker.
Sheesh, I 'm not drunk....yet.
Yep.
He is, right now, redefining the entire political dynamic.
It's history we're watching.
Whether good or bad, this time it's definitely going to be different.
If he had 1 gram of self respect, honor or dignity he would step down or at the very least call the vote NOW.
Oh wait .... he’s a polidiot on the presstitutional sugar tit.
My opinion.
So, if you're in an existential war with those who would destroy you and your homeland, who do you shoot first?
The enemy across the river or the known traitor in your own foxhole?
First, the GOP must die.
Everything else comes after that.
Every Freeper should send him a large bottle of his favorite beverage just to hasten the demise
Excellent article. Thank you for posting this. I’m hoping Meadows and the rest of the conservatives keep steel in their backbones!
