Santorum Protests GOP Debate Rules: 'Polls Mean Nothing

...former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, one of those likely to be relegated to an afternoon consolation face-off, attacked the criteria for making the choice.

"National polls mean nothing," Santorum said Sunday during an appearance on ABC's "This Week." The Pennsylvanian directed his fire at both Fox News, the TV network co-hosting the debate with Facebook, and the Republican National Committee, which sanctioned the debate. "It's just an arbitrary figure, and unfortunately, the national networks and the RNC have gone along with this irrelevant measure of legitimacy of candidacy."

ox has said it will assign the 17 major candidates their places on Tuesday, based on an average of five national polls. Santorum, who won the Iowa caucuses four years ago, now lurks in the back of the Republican pack, with just 1 percent of voters supporting him, according to a new Wall Street Journal /NBC News poll.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, one of the candidates whose participation still hangs in the balance, said he's not worried.

"You know, I'll be very happy on Tuesday when the standings come out and I'm in there,"...

Billionaire Donald Trump, who has been leading virtually every poll...

"I'm not a debater," Trump said over the phone on CBS's Face the Nation. "I don't stand up and debate like these politicians. They're all talk, no action. All they do is their whole life they debate and then they don't get things done. I get things done."

Ohio Governor John Kasich, who may make the cut, ...

"This debate comes six months before the selection of a single delegate," he said. "What I've been focusing on is out there in the grass roots."

I saw “the bratty rick kid” in all the last set of debates.

He is a one-issue guy, at best. ISIS was not that prevalent, then. Domestic jihadists were not that prevalent, then. The Baltimore crap had not come forth.

He hasn’t got it.

Last time, Santorum was on his way and then he started babbling about the need to compromise. The voters want someone who sees a need to win.

That would indeed by Donald Trump.

If I were in the “afternoon’ debate, I’d work at shining within that group. It’d be better to be really bright there than unnoticeable with Trump/Cruz/Bush et al. Let the hares wear themselves out.

Santorum has become way too much of a whiner. I suppose it’s frustrating to have the Senatorial experience and hold the right positions on GOP-oriented issues, but gather little to no support because you lost an election in an off-GOP year. Nonetheless, he’s a grown man and should act like one.

I was seriously hoping none from the last election cycle would run again.

I think there is a good chance that "America is going to get nuked." We have a Sunni President contriving to provoke a nuclear exchange between Iran and Israel. Iran will fire first because if Israel fires first the USA will wipe out Israel altogether and Iran will be uninhabitable. If Iran fires first, Israel maylose Tel Aviv and maybe Haifa and Iran will become uninhabitable with Israel probably nonviable.Either way both the eternal enemies of Sunni Islam will be no more. I also believe that when Iran launches against Israel it will send a side shot or two at DC and/or NY. And President or perhaps Former President Hussein will at that time be safely playing golf far from the target areas and a third great enemy of Sunni Islam will have been hurt, perhaps mortally.
I hope and pray that Israel possesses an anti missile capability of which the CIA is as yet unaware.

I’m in favor of anything that keeps Rick Santorum off the debate stage.” -———

You too? I agree. Rick was always a whiner. This is about par for him.

What would Santorum be willing to put us voters through, with 17 wannabees lined up on a stage and one set of three pundits editorializing every question to all seventeen contenders, and under a time limit to boot??

Merit used to mean something. The leading contenders have managed to make their mark, on merit. Yes, there are rewards for doing so. Debate positions are the first reward.

Frankly, it’s not perfect but FOX’s answer to the madness suits me just fine. If by now you don’t have the money to be heard, or you have the money but you can’t break through the noise with your message, be happy you get a spot at all. I mean it is an earlier venue, but it’s on the same evening and the same cable network.

Applaud THAT! I still remember his sympathies for the Union thugs in PA. What worked there, one time, tells me Rick won’t work anywhere out here, bedsides, he whines too much.

NO! NO! NO! Silly you. Those would be REAL debates. Those would be REAL debate rules, don’t you see?

And.... besides how could MEGYN KELLY possibly up her contract value without being the center of attention, center stage, center camera in THOSE circumstances! She will want to shake up this race, change the future, and leave seated on the shoulders of the enamored K Street and COC chiefs. :)

Hey! They could get all the competitors and have one on one debates in a playoff format like March Madness starting with the So So Sixteen.

There are fewer and fewer patriots in uniform as the Purges continue. My boy is 7 years in the Army and tells me that the experienced officers and ncos are being replaced pretty rapidly with women and homosexuals. He says he will try to ride it out through the election and hopes he doesn’t get caught in the new 40k RIF first.

One strange thing about 2012 is that Santorum was as nasty as anyone in the debates towards the others....and all along, talk radio kept giving him credit for being above the fray. That’s bullsh-t. Check the tape. Rickie was a little nasty boi, more than anyone maybe.
***********************************
That’s exactly the way I remember the 2012 debates!

This cartoon reads Sen. Graham but it applies to Santorum just as well.
