GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee distanced himself from fellow candidate Donald Trumps statements about Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Saturday.
I said very clearly Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is a hero Donald Trump will need to determine whether thats a statement he needs to walk back, Huckabee told a news conference, saying that he continues to speak only for himself.
Reporters also questioned Huckabee about Trumps popularity, since the real estate mogul has rocketed to number one in recent polls.

agreed.
The GOPe stays in line.
Where did Huck serve?
I'll never vote for any of them.
They seem to be at the end of the line.
Getting captured is not a heroic act. That is the point that Trump was making.
He is only a Senator now because he was a POW back then and he is being hailed as a hero simply for being a POW. But the fact is, he had no choice in his condition. He was captured.
A hero is someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty to save others without any thought for their own well being. There were a lot of true heroes in the Vietnam war. I’m not convinced that John McCain should be numbered among them.
WAS a hero.
No longer, not for a long time. He is a stain on this country overviewing his entire life and what damage he has done to this country.
Your post is exactly correct. Nothing heroic about being captured.
I wish the reporters would ask Huckster, Perry and each of the other candidates who are bashing Trump:
Exactly what did McCain do to earn Hero status???
He damaged or totally destroyed five Navy jet aircraft.
Some POWs have insinuated that they think he was collaborating with his NVA captors.
Still waiting for the media to ask every single democrat their thoughts on Planned Parenthood selling baby organs for profit
I suppose only in the sense that all who serve are heroes of a sort.
***************************
The word “hero” is like the word “racist”, in that it has be so over-used that it has lost its original meaning.
I served, as have millions of other vets. Only those who have done something heroic should be called a hero. Merely doing your duty in military service is not an heroic act.
Been trying to find the correct words and you got it right on. It is my hope that the word hero is restricted to heroic acts so we can give credit to proper Americans and not thrown around carelessly..
Huckabee is another “I coulda been a contenduh” that ain’t.
STFU
These republicrats are being harder on Trump than they ever were on obama or the democrats.
No doubt. Where were these headlines a few days ago?

The GOP used to be Conservative fighters "at certain points" but
recently have become Democrat fluffers in the backrooms.
Huckleberry"A man; specif., the exact kind of man needed for a particular purpose. 1936: "Well, I'm your huckleberry, Mr. Haney." Tully, "Bruiser," 37. Since 1880, archaic.
The "Historical Dictionary of American Slang" which is a multivolume work, has about a third of a column of citations documenting this meaning all through the latter 19th century.
So "I'm your huckleberry" means "I'm just the man you're looking for!"
"I'm your huckleberry..." Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone
