Trump: Statement on John McCain
Facebook page for Donald J. Trump ^ | July 18, 2015 | Donald Trump

Posted on 07/18/2015 12:23:11 PM PDT by conservative98

I am not a fan of John McCain because he has done so little for our Veterans and he should know better than anybody what the Veterans need, especially in regards to the VA. He is yet another all talk, no action politician who spends too much time on television and not enough time doing his job and helping the Vets. He is also allowing our military to decrease substantially in size and strength, something which should never be allowed to happen.

Furthermore, he was extremely disrespectful to the thousands upon thousands of people, many of whom happen to be his constituents, that came to listen to me speak about illegal immigration in Phoenix last week by calling them "crazies".

These were not "crazies"---these were great American citizens.

I have great respect for all those who serve in our military including those that weren't captured and are also heroes.

I want to strengthen our military and take care of our Veterans. I want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN especially for those that serve to protect our freedom. I am fighting for our Veterans!

That event earned about 2 million with Bush speaking vs less than half that when he does not.

Yes, I’m still waiting for the $50 an hour McCommunist said no American would take to pick lettuce.

His office is full of the most disrespectful trolls I’ve ever talked to. Ten to fifteen years ago, they would argue with me about why all of Southern Arizona’s ERs were shutting, why we should allow open borders, etc.

Gateway Pundit has the entire video which puts his statement in context.

As for McCain, as an Arizonan, no use for the man whatsoever. What his war record means to him is re-election, and it gets used every time.

He ran last term on the promise of securing our southern border. He’s not done one thing in that regard, and people like Bob Krentz paid for his blatant disregard for the people of Arizona.

AFAIC, Trump doesn’t have to walk anything back. McCain, though, should answer for his repeated insults to his own constituency!

And in case no one knew, Senator McCain received $51K in the first quarter of 2015 for his yes vote on the trade agreement.

Trump’s faux conservatism riff is similar
to that of Arnold the Austrian IMO. He
would sell out conservatism at the earliest
possible opportunity.

The football is a larger metaphor for diplomacy in general....From a marketing standpoint, (all publicity is good publicity), Trump probably thought it was not a bad move to say what he did.

But knowing when to pass on controversy for controversy's sake alone shows good judgement. His remarks added nothing of substance to the national discourse, and were probably better left unsaid.

Pretty neat.

I’m not a Trump fan, but I enjoy his speeches because they are so nonPC. Cruz’ ability to stay on topic and think and explain logically might be a good sidekick to Donald.

If I were running, I would not diss McCain’s war record, even though I have often assumed his injuries were NOT from torture, but from crashing his plane, or villagers beating him up before he was taken prisoner. I do not trust the man. Something is not right with McCain in the head and the soul.

Excellent post, kozanne. Thanks for giving us the view of a McCain constituent, too.

deport, it sounds like Trump IS speaking for many of McShame’s constituents.

No apology - I like that.

McCain has stabbed conservatives in the back so many times, whatever he did in Vietnam wore off a long time ago.

Trump was very restrained.

He did not mention McCain owes us five planes.

I used to dismiss Trump as not really serious about his run, but when I saw him take big hits both personally and financially and not back down he got my attention. When he stated unapologetically his position on illegal immigration, he earned my respect.

I think any combination of Trump and Cruz would win in a landslide.

“‘Sorry. Trump still acted like an ass ‘ / How so?”

Give me a break! If Bill Clinton or Obama had said the exact same thing Trump said, everyone on FreeRepublic would be pissed beyond belief. But when it comes from a rich boy who spent Vietnam getting deferrals, but who now mouths some conservative views - and only some - I’m supposed to think it is OK?

Sorry. He acted like an ass. You do NOT dump on someone who spent years in a POW camp as being a failure because he was shot down behind enemy lines! It is disgusting behavior!

What about quotes attributed to Trump in which he says McCain is only a hero because was a POW.

Did Trump make two separate comments?

If people really knew about the TRUTH behind John “Songbird” McCain’s service and captivity, they would curse his name. There’s a reason his fellow POWs despise him.

....”We’ve really hit a low when we’re just grateful to hear someone say they’ll follow the law and enforce our border and we actually think they might mean it because they’re not a politician”.....

I don’t think that’s how people see Trump....they recognize he’s got the gusto to speak out on a serious issue people do care about, which evokes much anger and passion in the population ....and that IS attractive to any society of peoples in and of itself when they know their desires are not being met by their representatives...even when warts might cover the hand that’s feeding it. That cannot be denied.

Trumps going to burn out pretty fast at the pace he’s going currently as this cannot be maintained for the duration....’he will learn’ to pace himself and pick his fights that matter rather than just strike out as he’s been doing.

This is great theater to get people engaged.....but when those horses come to the gates and the bell rings Trumps going to have to have real “substance” to attract the electorate he will need. I’m not convinced he has that nor that he can deliver such.

This is the biggest “sell” Trumps going to ever do.... recently he’s lost some interested parties....but we shall see.

Trump was defending people(like me) who think we need to protect the border from being called “crazies” by John McCain... does John McCain get to smear people like us without blowback because he was a POW?... watch the video where Trump makes the statements..
Luntz kept badgering and interrupting him with “but McCain is a war hero but McCain is a war hero he spent 5 years as a POW he’s a war hero”... Trump had had enough.. thank you Trump for finally somebody to have had the guts to put McCain in his place...

***************

That may well be true. But when push comes to shove it’s the people/voters of AZ
that can either elect or not elect him.

I’m not a McCain or Trump supporter but I don’t dis anyone who served in the US
Military and spent over 5 1/2 yrs in captivity. Dis McCain all he wants over his
elected activities and that’s fine.
