About 25 years I had a friend who was an attorney and she was joining her father’s law firm that was getting ready to specialize in environmental law. She said there was a lot of money in it. I guess she was right. Take it right out of the taxpayer’s pocket.

Removing the primary source of illegal jobs totally from the market? They expected the largess of the state at large to make up for the loss? Is the mania of these econuts that badly foregone?

What morons.

On a side note - Selleck never stole the water. His contractor had paid for the right to take the water years ago. Much ado about nothing unless the purpose was to besmirch a famous Republican.

Their goal was to remove 1.3 million acres of farmland from production...and the land would return to some ideal state of nature.

Wow. Kum-bye-ya. And all will be one with Mother Gaia.

The commie RATs that have been destroying Taxifornia continue to do so. This is nothing new. They have been diverting water to ANYTHING that generates more power and control for them. And they REFUSE to build more water storage capacity which would upset the massive leftist green whacko vote and campaign bucks.

Nothing new. And their voting base keeps growing from migration across the southern border...all welcomed with open arms by El Jefe Jerry Brown.

The PC leftist enabling media shapes the message by what they don’t report; just like there is no discussion of how much water is consumed by California’s millions of illegal aliens.

By way of comparison, 1.3 million acres (2,000 sq mi) would be the farmland in four or five Iowa counties. Probably figured arranging to steal it by making it worthless would be cheaper than just buying it.

There is no shortage of water in California but communists leftists pigs that dumped fresh water into the ocean because of a fish. California communists create a shortage to feel important but have destroyed so much of this State.

Isn’t farmland like in-line with nature. Soil, seeds, plants, add in water with warm sun and beautiful, edible crops grow?
Idiots and morons on the left.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

Them farmers ain’t voting the way they should.

They need to get their minds right.

Those are the limousine liberals beaches and highways.

Who cares about growing food?

The cook gets all the food from the supermarket.

Okay, then I guess the people are going to eat the trees and bushes instead of the veggies and fruits grown on that land now? Growing and exporting produce to big chain markets in other states is big business in Cali, too...

"So in other words, there is plenty of water available, but more than 200 billion gallons a year is simply discarded to favor the fish."

According to this author we are not having a historic drought and we have PLENTY of water available.

Plenty?

Apparently the author DOES NOT LIVE HERE!

It's all kinds of dry and the season is early. We have3 500 yr old trees dying for lack of water, in large numbers.

We don't have plenty of water and the writer doesn't know what he's talking about.

Yes, there's MAJOR issues with how the water we DO have is used, but to contend there's "plenty" shows he doesn't know what he's talking about.
