Obama administration unveiled new rules Wednesday to rid the country of racially segregated neighborhoods by directing cities and towns to set goals for reducing segregation, and then regularly report their progress to the feds.
Communities nationwide will be given a series of questions designed to help them figure out whether racial bias is causing segregated neighborhoods, racial or ethnically concentrated areas of poverty, unequal access to opportunity or disproportionate housing needs in their jurisdiction. They will be required to set goals related to that data and publicly report on their progress every three to five years.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development rule is intended to prod communities to meet fair housing standards established in the Fair Housing Act of 1986, by making previously unavailable or unreliable data accessible to the public, which could then use the data as an impetus for change...

“HUD’s rule clarifies and simplifies existing fair housing obligations and creates a streamlined Assessment of Fair Housing planning process, which will help communities analyze challenges to fair housing choice and establish their own goals and priorities to address the fair housing barriers in their community. While the final rule will take effect 30 days after publication, it will not be fully implemented immediately. HUD will provide support to program participants that need to complete an Assessment of Fair Housing to ensure they understand the process and to identify best practices across a diverse group of communities.”

This has nothing to do with racial integration. It us about economic integration.
Seattle City council has already announced new zoning rules that are coming to Seattle. This is about eliminating single family zoning, height restrictions, restrictions on how many people can live in a single unit.
They said that where three story apartments are allowed, there will be six stories, where there are six story apt buildings, there will be seven and the single family zoning will be almost completely eliminated.
I was in the nail salon when the changes were announced on TV. There was an audible gasp in the salon and then a sigh of relief as the announcer said it was for Seattle. This was in the very left leaning Bellingham.
Something tells me this is a diversion.
People will still end up segregating themselves according to some criteria whether it be race, income, or ideology.
My little town is mostly white but has a very mixed income level makeup. Our sole black family is here for the conservative values.

Yes, there are definitely fine Black families out there who love God and have conservative values.
I live in a rural area. We have areas of really nice homes that are strictly black. No one made them buy and settle segregating themselves. Are they going to move some poor whites in there among them?
I’ll support this when they put 100 residents of Detroit on Hillary’s block, and force al gore to move to Newark NJ.
