Mexico's navy says six people are dead after a group of suspected criminals sparked a skirmish by opening fire on a Marine helicopter near the U.S. border. The navy says the incident happened on Sunday in a rural area south of Nuevo Laredo, which is across the border from Laredo, Texas. In a statement Monday, the navy said the suspects fired on the Blackhawk helicopter, hitting it seven times. The helicopter crew returned fire, killing six suspects. No navy personnel were injured. The navy said the crew detected a convoy of armed men in an area long dominated by the Zetas cartel. In a May 1 attack, gunmen in the western state of Jalisco shot down an

Just wish we’d do the same thing when the Mexicans fire on our helicopters. And for that matter we should be firing on Mexican helicopters that overfly our border and enter the US without permission too.
You mean we’re actually defending the border now?
And with firepower?
Obama & Lynch will be in a fit over this mess....
Oh nevermind...it was Mexico’s Navy....
What was I thinking? That we’d actually defend the border...right....
Has Obama invited them to the White House yet? Have Democrats celebrated their cause and signed them up as voters?
The cartels are very well armed. There’s huge money in drugs, and tons of Mexican heroin are being moved across the border on a steady basis.
I’m surprised they’d dare to fire on a Mexican military helicopter, though; the military has been coming down hard on the cartels and has been criticized by the left for doing so, but this is certainly going to make it harder even for the leftists to support the cartels.
Mexico has a navy?
I was thinking the same thing.

Dang! This almost sounds like war!
“Drug cartels with rocket launcher? Definitely not your average dealer. “
The cartels employ military personnel. Los Zetas in particular were former Mexican Army commandos.
Never bring a ri9fle to a Blackhawk fight...............
Not OUR Marines........................
Which cartel do the guys in the chopper work for?
For what it is worth, big takedowns of Mexican drug lords seem to always involve the Mexican Marines. Many of the Zetas are former Mexican Army personnel, so it could be that the Mexican government relies more on the Marines for this kind of work.
That was all Mexican stuff on their side of the border.
Mexico’s Marines are the only group refusing to be bought off by criminals there. They are on the front line fighting.
‘xactly. How did they know where to go and when?
Actually, the Mexican Navy has been effective against the Cartels, as there are not as many of them on the Cartel’s payrolls. Additionally, the Marines in particular are very motivated to hunt down the Cartels because of an incident in late 2009 when the Cartels slaughtered the family of a slain Marine after his name was released. They haven’t forgotten...
