WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the nationwide tax subsidies under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, in a ruling that preserves health insurance for millions of Americans.

The justices said in a 6-3 ruling that the subsidies that 8.7 million people currently receive to make insurance affordable do not depend on where they live, under the 2010 health care law.

Any response from what passes for Republican leadership in the House or the Senate?

The Rule of Law is in fact dead, and the Constitution a dead leter. The government of the united states no longer recognizes any constraints upon its power over the people. In practice, our rights are honored no more than citizens of the old Soviet Union.

They are waiting for their prefunctionary opposition talking points from the Marxist White House.

The supreme court is infected with postmodernism. Postmodernists say that by means of deconstruction, readers of a text can ferret out its hidden or multiple meanings (polysemy). In this way, a reader’s subjective interpretation of a the text becomes more important than the text itself. Also significant is the subjectivity of the reader in determining what the author intended. Also the reader is allowed to invent new meanings. The text is freed from the tyranny of the author’s single intended meaning.

Saying that the constitution is effective if nobody violates it is like a man saying the locks on his house would have been good if criminals hadn’t tried to break in. If the constitution is so easy to violate, without even one shot fired, then it is worthless.

Christianity will not be directly criminalized. It, like everything else, will be regulated. You are free to worship in the government zoned worship building during regulated church hours, where you can hear the officially approved message from the licensed pastor.

In practice, we now have a President and Supreme Court that write, rewrite or create new laws.

Under this new system, what is the need for or function of The House and US Senate?

Which country can you “put money in” without severe (US) penalties? TIA.

Agree. We no longer have three separate, but equal branches of government. Why even vote, at all?

To quote our country’s own Marxist: “What difference, at this time, does it make??

We should feel free to act accordingly.

Believe me, it is coming. They just don't realize how bad it's gonna be for them.

They shall rue the day.

The Supreme Court and ALL government employees ,that includes Congress and President should be put on Obamacare ,then you’ll be shocked how fast they fix or kill it

The ruling elite are never subject to the rules for the little people.

“SCOTUS is no longer a court in any real definition. It is one more wholly-owned subsidiary of the New World Order.”

Could not have happened without the help of
Papa and Baby Bush. Soon we’ll have Baby Bush 2 to
push us over the cliff.
Obamacare? I’m not going to do it.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111–148) was passed by the 111th Congress in 2009 and it was signed in to law by the president in 2010.
It was upheld as constitutional by the Supreme Court in 2012 and again today.
All three branches share the blame for this socialist monstrosity.

“Big mistake by Bush”

Na, he knew what he was doing. He was always one of the
New World Order - One World Socialist Government clowns.
The only difference in The Bush clan and the Obamas and Clintons
is they are a little more polite and that’s it.

Scalia's dissent is priceless. Closing paragraph:

Perhaps the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will attain the enduring status of the Social Security Act or the Taft-Hartley Act; perhaps not. But this Court’s two decisions on the Act will surely be remembered through the years. The somersaults of statutory interpretation they have performed (“penalty” means tax, “further [Medi - caid] payments to the State” means only incremental Medicaid payments to the State, “established by the State” means not established by the State) will be cited by liti - gants endlessly, to the confusion of honest jurisprudence. And the cases will publish fore ver the discouraging truth that the Supreme Court of the United States favors some laws over others, and is prepared to do whatever it takes to uphold and assist its favorites. I dissent

“In this instance,” Justice Roberts wrote, “the context and structure of the act compel us to depart from what would otherwise be the most natural reading of the pertinent statutory phrase.”

Wow. Just...wow.
