Anyone who thinks ObamaCare will cut the deficit over the next decade should look at Page 11 of the latest Congressional Budget Office report.
The table on that page shows how the trillions in ObamaCare subsidies are supposed to be "paid for" by tax hikes or spending cuts.
What it reveals, however, is that ObamaCare increasingly relies on dubious Medicare spending cuts to cover its growing subsidy costs.

Well, I guess the “only solution” is to go to single payer through the gov’t, because “everything else failed”.
Could one of you ‘editors’ please write an article concerning 0bamacare just being a pit-stop on the way to total Government-run Socialized Medicine?
Seriously? You can’t SEE that?
MrB! We are on the same page this morning!
Since when did THAT ever stop them?
Cordially,
Can, road. Liars figure and figures lie. Thanks for a great editorial.
Nothing about ObamaCare itself is in trouble. Whatever financial trouble exists is the problem of taxpayers and the real workers in this country.
There has NEVER been a case where government workers, the government or anything connected with it has “gotten in trouble” financially. All that onus falls on the real producers of this country. And to the extent that government has a perceived responsibility means that it will tax, levy, fine and impose all the fiats it needs to to pay for its futile largess - for the sake of votes.
It’s in its DEATH SPIRAL. The only question is “how quickly will the death spiral unfold and how quickly will rates rise and ‘customers’ bail out”.
Things such as the Obamacare Supreme Court decision will only affect the rate of acceleration of premiums and costs...not the ultimate outcome.
Funny that the entire medical cost “crisis” is supposed to be cured by insurance for low end patients.
The sensible thing to do would be a supply side solution - if the demand for a product is high, supply is low driving higher costs - increase supply.
In the U.S. the number of M.D.’s is artificially held down by the small number of them that are graduated. This is on purpose, driven by AMA assessments of what the average salary should be - which is quite high according to them, obviously.
But it’s a discipline that is not that difficult relative to others - being an applied biological technician is not as hard as it’s perceived. The difficulty of getting into the profession has come from limited medical school slots.
For example, California has about the same number of medical schools now with 40 million people that it did when it had 20 million. A few more, not nearly enough. Thus the need for Pakistani docs, and the rise of MD’s with Caribbean degrees. Who actually do just fine for the most part.
So as usual a “solution” dreamed up by political ideologues with room temperature IQ’s turns out to be a disaster. The obvious solution lies in front of them: simply train more docs, more PA’s, more specialty techs and let market price forces do the rest.
Everyone will be healthier for it.
But the Republicans are gonna fix it..../s
As P.J. O’Rourke aptly states...Government failure is underfunded. Get your feet set.
I expect the tyrants in black robes to dance a little side step for their Kenyan and stick it to the Americn people instead.
>>> But the Republicans are gonna fix it..../s
(In reality)
“But give us your money, so we can win elections (to win back majority), and we will compromise with ObamaDems to kick the can down the road to have (any issue you can name) becoming a crisis, so only more taxpayer money and elitists can fix it.”
However if the SCOTUS rules that the Obamacare subsidies cannot be paid in states without a state sponsored health care exchange, it will force Congress to do something. If the court keeps the status quo, Congress will do nothing and Obamacare will just limp along until it collapses taking down the whole US health care system
No SC decision today on Obamacare or Gay Marriage, according to FoxNews.
The decision(s) may come Thursday or next Monday.
“paid for” by tax hikes or spending cuts.
Take a guess what one will not happen go ahead pick one.
And the GOPe will ensure that happens.
So let it be written, so let it be done
