On Thursday’s edition of PBS’s Tavis Smiley show, William Hurt the star of AMC’s Humans (a science fiction show that addresses the future of artificial intelligence) assured PBS’s Tavis Smiley that self-aware androids weren’t the monster to worry about. No the real threat, according to the four-time Academy Award nominee, was “global warming.”

There is little defense to artificial stupidity.
Well, artificial intelligence is real and a work in progress, computers require less input to work and perform tasks than they used to many years ago. I am just an 80s kid, born in 1984, but ask any of the older Freepers and they could tell you tales that would put the command line interface of DOS to shame. I personally feel it’s way more autonomous for a computer, which automatically does its tasks that had to be manually instructed years ago.
Born in 1964 and can confidently state that things are progressing considerably slower than we were told to expect.
Another aging has been actor with no real contributions to mankind’s betterment striving for relevance. He joins a long list of irrelevant egoists who shouldn’t even have the two cents it takes to spout their nonsense.
Well, we haven’t developed the HAL series of computers, we are more than a decade overdue for them :)

William Hurt is a great actor. But he is an intellectual doofus who drinks progressive swill with happy abandon.

Acting appears to have an extremely destructive effect on intelligence.
But, then again, perhaps that is why these dolts are actors.
The progressives certainly fear theoretical killers. Never the actual killers. IS kills tens of thousands... Meh. Theoretically tens of thousands die due to atmospheric carbon increasing 1ppb... panic!
William Hurt strikes me as almost the quintessential girly-man. In every movie of his I’ve ever suffered through, he always looks like he’s about to break down in tears. What a pussy!
