On June 20 former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney called for South Carolina to remove the Confederate flag from their state Capitol grounds in Columbia.
His call comes in the wake of the heinous attack on Charlestons Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. It follows a photo of the suspected gunman, Dylann Roof, in which Roof is seen leaning against his car with a Confederate flag license plate visible on the front of his vehicle being widely circulated.
Here were Romneys exact words: Take down the Confederate Flag at the SC Capitol. To many, it is a symbol of racial hatred. Remove it now to honor Charleston victims.

Yep. I supported him. So what. I don’t have to agree with everything he says.
What hurts those of us who are in the conservative movement are a couple of big things:
1. Candidates/politicians who are too quick to bend to media pressure.
2. Voters/activists who are too quick to dismiss politicians who aren’t, in their eyes, pure enough.
You combo the two and it spells electoral doom. Ironic: both sides blame the other for the loss.
Politics is the art of the possible, not the perfect.
Does this mean the Nazi swastika is also banned everywhere?
If you never "expected" me to have a list, what was the information you were requesting when you said you wanted an apology or the information you "expected"?

Sorry.

The term "Stars and Bars" refers to the First National Flag of the Confederacy, not the Confederate Battle flag...and I doubt any aggrieved liberals would recognize one if they saw it.
Thank you, manc
No, I am a native America. The person on the Massghanistan flag is an Indian.
This certainly resembles the taliban/Al Quida (the savages who are destroying the heritage/history of so many countries they have conquered). Are WTPready to substitute one destroyer with another? Just as the giant stone images in the mountain side, the ancient remains of Egypt are destroyed. The liberals will attempt to do the same to US
Well the Southern Cross is the battle flag but we all pretty much call it the stars and bars. If you don’t live in the South just stay the eff of of it. :-)
To repeat my original sentiments: STFU Mitt.
He and others like him have no idea what flags flew over slave ships, or out west when the war with Indians went on.
Well at least for awhile the Mexican flag flew over casa de Romney.
It’s a symbol of our nation being divided in a bloody war that killed a record number of people for an American War. Yes, I don’t agree with the flag on official government buildings, but not for the same reasons stated by the political yahoos right now. On historical buildings, if that is the actual flag that was on them at the time, then put the flags down.
The idea of a flag representing racism is absurd, just about every nation on Earth has had some kind of institutionalized racism in a national history. The real issue is as you pointed out, our nation being divided and engaged in a conflict of American killing American. The highest American body count of any War that America was engaged in. Historical buildings should have what was there at the time. If someone wants whatever flag on his grave, then fine, do it. Official government buildings in use by state government should not.
You probably flunked history also...bless your heart.
From the history of the CW I’ve always heard of ‘’the battle flag’’ referred to as The Stars And bars’’. Makes no difference to me because it sure ain’t The Stars And Stripes which is the flag of this great nation. THE ONLY FLAG!
So are the Stars and Stripes about racism and treachery. I wouldn’t be comfortable with such, but then again, has this actually happened at all?
Hey Norm,
With all the fun I was having I missed your Post.
Thanks for the information. My curiosity has been dampened.
You really don’t remember the 2008 primary, when Romney broke spending records and spent almost 50 million dollars of his own money, and FR was aflame with Romney supporters and new Mormon sign ups?
You really don’t remember the 2012 primary here?
How do you explain your thinking that Mitt Romney ran two primaries, and became the nominee and the candidate in the second one, without having any supporters here during all those years from 2005/6 through to 2012?
How could you miss the most heated threads of those years, all the zotting?
Here are just a couple of examples.
