A former Boy Scout confessed in emotionally charged court testimony to killing his former troop leader, but said it was due to the repeated sexual abuse and rape he suffered at the hands of the man, beginning at the tender age of 8.
From the time I was 8 years old until I was 12, I was sexually assaulted and raped by Dennis Pegg, said Clark Fredericks, a former scout who spoke in a tense Newton, New Jersey, courtroom about the reasons for his killing.
Pegg also served as a Sussex sheriffs officer, NBC New York reported. He was killed three years ago and Fredericks admitted to the crime.

Part of the reason Fredericks said he kept silent was because he didnt think anyone would believe him, due to Peggs police badge, and part was due to fear.
Dennis Pegg controlled me by torturing and killing animals in front of me, saying he would do the same to me if I told anyone about our secret, Fredericks said.
It was while watching the rape and sexual abuse trial of Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky in 2012 that Fredericks said he cracked, NBC New York reported.
He told the court the next day he drank alcohol, snorted cocaine and grabbed a hunting knife Pegg had given him as a gift in the Boy Scouts, and headed with a friend, Bob Reynolds, to Peggs home.
I started stabbing Dennis, Fredericks said. I said, How does it feel raping little kids now. Its not so fun raping little kids now, is it? At the end, I slit his throat.
The courtroom broke into applause after Fredericks finished testifying, shocking the prosecutor, NBC New York reported.

It was the responsibility of that boy’s father to do what the boy was forced to do. No doubt there are numerous other kids out there who are feeling a sense of relief. Hopefully they will come forth and support this young man who is facing prison.
Cub-scouts and Webolos.
Passion provocation could not be disproved beyond a reasonable doubt, he (the prosecutor)said, the media outlet reported.
The courtroom wanted to hand him a medal and the prosecutor only agreed to a reduced sentence because he thought he couldn't make a harsher one stick. In hindsight it seems better to have put his future in the hands of his peers rather than the state.
Yeah.
Got news for you. It ain’t just boys victimized, and it ain’t just homos doing the assaults.
He does not look young to me.
I still want to know when this happened. Not at all indicated in the story. Can only go by his photos.
Apparently the victim never told his father or anyone else.
So how is it the father’s responsibility if he does not know anything?
Not anymore.
6 for Cubs, 9 for Webelos.
They keep inching everything back to make kids constantly under activity.
I’m actually pretty tired of this endless parade of “structured activity” for kids.
8 is Cub Scouts. They are Boy Scouts.
Not then.
Of course, I’m sure it was basically Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, so even if they did ask, he just didn’t have to tell.
There is such a thing as jury nullification.
Its the prime responsibility of fathers to protect their sons from vile homosexuals. Its not getting any easier these days but it still must be done.
So, naturally, we need to invite more Homos into the Boy Scouts to teach them it is not rape, but pure natural behavior.

Wow! Sounds like a movie scene.
Murder is horrible, but so was the abuse this man endured. I hope he can find peace.
So what are they to do? Constantly interrogate and shake down their kids about whether anyone has touched them in bad ways?
It’s not the fathers’ fault if they cannot get their kids to tell them every bitty detail about what’s happened to them. Why would it come up? And why bring it up (something nasty) if it’s not apparent? Only makes the kid more paranoid and learn about some things too soon.
If true, the appropriate verdict is obvious, and three cheers to the boy for ensuring that no other children would be harmed by an evil man. However, the key word is “if”. That makes it a tricky situation.
Just last night I was speaking with a 71 year old man who had a guy try to molest him when he was a young boy. He was unsuccessful but even 60 some years later, it was emotional for him to tell me the story.
From what I read, others have come forward over the years, but the prosecutor wouldn’t bring charges.
I’m not sure juries come into play once people confess to killings.
I’m also not a lawyer, so I could be wrong.
I served on a jury for a man who confessed to rape. A confession doesn’t nullify the right to a jury trial.
Yes but in this case, it sounds like a deal has been made. That would eliminate the need for a jury, I would think.
