Democrats had a brilliant response to Donald Trump's candidacy

The Democratic National Committee had a clever response to Donald Trump's announcement that he is running for president, treating a candidacy observers often view with suspicion as the most serious yet.

"Today, Donald Trump became the second major Republican candidate to announce for president in two days," DNC national press secretary Holly Shulman said in a statement. "He adds some much-needed seriousness that has previously been lacking from the GOP field, and we look forward hearing more about his ideas for the nation."

Compare that to the DNC's statements on other candidates. Shulman called fellow GOP candidate Rick Santorum's ideas "backwards." The committee compared former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) to "Arrested Development" character Gob Bluth. It even called former New York Gov. George Pataki (R), who is considered an afterthought of a candidate, someone whose agenda is "wrong for the middle class."

It's not surprising that Democrats are seeking to elevate Trump, who is now perhaps the GOP's most controversial candidate. He's currently in the top 10 of polling, which would put him in position to be on the GOP debate stage in August.

Of course the opposition would try to build up the clown that they think they can take down in the general election.

Seeking to elevate him because they know he’d never make president. That would make it easy for any Dem to win.

“Democrats had a brilliant response to Donald Trump’s candidacy”

They hid under their beds, wetting themselves and sucking their thumbs?

From the Dems..."He adds some much-needed seriousness that has previously been lacking from the GOP field, and we look forward hearing more about his ideas for the nation."

I listened to his interview last night; and, Mister Trump is absolutely does not appear to be a serious candidate.

Trump = Hillary's Perot, one strongly suspects.

The Dems ought to be shaking in their shoes as Trump would likely steal more democrat votes than Reagan did.

I don't think their statement was trying to "elevate Trump." They were pretty clearly mocking him.

What you said... plus trump has supported dems in the past and agrees with them on some issues... so it’s a two-fer.

Not a serious threat of The Donald becoming a reprise of H. Ross Perot.

Unless, of course, he chooses to go “third-party”.

Trump will be interesting. He will stir the pot in ways that make the Conservatives and the Establishment both cringe, not that this a bad thing. And Trump seems to have no fear of being seen as the bully for “hitting the girl”, as do many of the other Republican prospects.

But in the end, not third-party material.

Sorry, but I believe in simple ABC’s...Anybody But Clinton. If The Donald happens to get the Republican nomination, who here will sit it out and not vote for him?

The Donald is and has the best everything that ever was or will be.

He doesn’t need my vote, because he has his vote, which is the best vote God ever created, let Him tell you, and by “Him” I mean The Donald.

The question I would need to answer for myself is whether I believed that Trump would actually try to do the things he campaigns on, or if the things he says are for show like we just went though with McConnell and the other Senate candidates, and Obama before them.

Donald Trump has exposed the farce called the Republican Party.

And the democrats will embrace him.

I do understand that he may be a little (a lot) full of himself, however, a vote (even if you have to hold your nose) not given for the Republican nominee (if it even is Trump) is a vote for a Clinton (or progressive, marxist etc).

No, it isn’t.

When I actually pull the lever for Hillary Clinton because the GOP nominated a complete a$$hole for their candidate, take your pick of them, because any number of them fit that bill, then THAT is a vote for Hillary Clinton.

Not doing something for X does not equate to doing something for Y.

Doing something for Y equates to doing something for Y.

I’m not going to hold my nose for the stinking GOP ever again.
