Cruz Mega-Donor is Gay, Pro-Pot Billionaire
TexasTribune.com ^ | July 3, 2012 | Jay Root

Tea Party-backed Senate candidate Ted Cruz points with pride to the army of small conservative donors supporting him. But his largest longtime contributor is a gay billionaire who supports same-sex marriage and marijuana legalization, campaign finance filings show.

Peter Thiel, a German-born hedge fund manager and founder of the online payment system PayPal, gave Cruz $251,000 in 2009 for his aborted run for attorney general. The money represented 19 percent of the total raised for that campaign, which Cruz ended after Attorney General Greg Abbott decided to run for re-election. ...

Obviously you posted this thread to attack Cruz.

Maybe you should have found your nuts and did it outright rather than your filthy Alinskyite sneak attack.

You are the one engaging in Alinksky tactics.

I read this article today linked on another thread. I considered not posting it, because I knew it would upset some of his supporters, but I thought about how we are upset that the press doesn't think it is worth covering all of Hilary's foreign donations. The story is out there and needs to be vetted during the primary. I actually expected someone to say this wasn't true. Then I would have asked the moderator to add (Not True) in parenthesis to the title. No one is denying the veracity of the article, just attacking me.

Cruz was on my short list, but this trade deal capitulation takes him off the list. And I definitely want to know what this billionaire got out of supporting Cruz. Cruz could have rejected the money. Agreement on bills such as this horrendous Trade Deal may be the answer.

Sessions, Palin, and others are correct and Cruz is wrong. The thing is I think Cruz is very intelligent, so he knows what he is doing. This wasn't a mistake. He is not a true conservative.

You’re the lying trash who posted a thread about something else to open your path to an attack.

I hate to burst your bubble world, but the left sees no difference between Cruz or Bush.

B.S.!

They see Bush as the candidate that cannot win against their Democrat candidate because they are too much like them, just like they saw McCain, Romney, etc.

You want't to see who they really fear, look at all the negative press they are throwing at Senator Ted Cruz.

No-one, and I mean No other GOP declared or potential candidate is generating anything near the yellow journalism and destroy-at-all-costs journalism that Ted Cruz is generating.

If you don't know that already, you are either woefully ignorant or just plain lying.

Really?! I guess you missed when they accused Romney of murder.

Cruz is a good man and a conservative, you do not need to try and make him a martyr.

The left will try to destroy any Republican, using any means necessary.

This is a hit piece on Cruz meant to drive a wedge in his supporters. Typical liberal pabulum.

True, but the really go after those they fear the most.

See Sarah Palin, see Ronald Reagan, and now see Ted Cruz.

Like I said before, if you do not see the elevated level of attacks against Ted Cruz, you are either not paying attention, or willfully lying.

If he didn't expect Cruz to change his mind and support gay marriage, what motivated the guy to support Cruz?

Maybe he thought he would get a honest attorney general?

This is supposed to alienate the base from Cruz - the media fear him.

Don’t fall for it

Quite Right, who gives a rat’s “tail” about that anyhow. Any conservative who cares about this is just plain stupid IMHO.

I’m taking it that, based upon your later comments in this thread, you’re a little disappointed that your posting this is not generating the anti-Cruz backlash you were hoping for.

How are things over in the “Get Cruz” Jihad Headquarters?

Pretty much all the big donors are pro gay pro legalization.

To include just about any corporation anywhere. Find me a pro conservative values big donor and/or corporation/entity and I'll show you a big target.

Foster Friess is the only big money guy I can think of with a true conservative bent and he’s a little soft on borders.

However he’s not as big as most. Millionaire rather than billionaire.

The saddest part of this whole episode is how easily conservatives are manipulated and led like sheep. Just look at who populates these threads. Among the regular Freeps are the RINO troll army. They consist if the n00bs who "used to support Cruz" and the primary season Freeps who may have been here for years but only show up for primary season to raise "concerns" about conservatives.

It is interesting how quickly this infighting starts when the Romney people start joining the campaigns. Honestly, if conservatives are dumb enough to continue falling for this crap election after election, we really do deserve a Bush/Clinton race.

As far as the candidates/potential candidates are concerned, I haven't looked at them all but so far Perry, Walker and Jindal have all supported TPP or equivelent treaties.

Amid Secrecy, Rick Perry Retracts Obamatrade Support: ‘I Would Rather Barack Obama Not Be Negotiating for Me’

In May a spokesman for Perry told Breitbart News that he supports the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)—one of three largely secretive trade deals that would be fast-tracked by Trade Promotion Authority (TPA). But he’s changed his position.

TPP Proponents Close to Clinton Remain Optimistic About Her Support

Scott Walker had this to say.

Well, I talked about TTIP the other day in Germany in Hanover at the industrial fair there, and I think fair and open trade is a good thing on either side of the continent for the United States, whether it’s on the Atlantic or the Pacific. Obvious the details need to be worked out and there’s a lot of details including some specific to my state that need to be worked out. But I think in the end, having a deal that’s fair and offers fair and open trade would be a good thing for the United States and for our trading partners.

Bobby Jindal talks economic development, TPP with Taiwanese President Ma Ying-Jeou

While the negotiations were discussed, Plotkin said Jindal will take a position on the agreement when final terms are agreed to: "We are optimistic and hopeful about expanded trade with this part of the world. So we are hopeful about the TPP.

For those who are OK with trashing Cruz to protect your candidate, Just remember, those Romney people on the campaign WILL eat your candidate before they're done and despite any fantasies to the contrary, you won't be able to stop it.

And finally Ted Cruz in his own words. (Starting at 52 minutes)
