Warrants Issued for People Who Cheered at High School Graduation

SENATOBIA, Mississippi —

Several people who cheered for family members at a recent high school graduation ceremony are now facing charges for “disturbing the peace.”

Police at Northwest Mississippi Community College, where Senatobia High School’s graduation ceremony was held, said the superintendent asked the crowd not to scream and to hold their applause until the end. Linda Walker, Ursula Miller and two other people were asked to leave the ceremony because they were screaming and cheering.

“When she went across the stage I just called her name out. ‘Lakaydra’. Just like that,” Ursula Miller told WREG.

Miller said she was then asked to leave the graduation. A few weeks later, she was served papers.

Senatobia Municipal School District Superintendent Jay Foster filed “disturbing the peace” charges against the four people who were asked to leave graduation. Officers issued warrants for their arrests with a possible $500 bond.

“It’s crazy,” Henry Walker said. “The fact that I might have to bond out of jail, pay court costs, or a $500 fine for expressing my love, it’s ridiculous man. It’s ridiculous.”

Superintendent Foster declined an on-camera interview but told WREG he’s determined to have order at graduation ceremonies.

“I can understand they can escort me out of the graduation, but to say they are going to put me in jail for it,” Miller said. “What else are they allowed to do?”

The four people facing charges are expected in court Monday, June 9.

Police record and jail for this? They must have been White heterosexual Christians.

The way it used to be. I find it totally annoying and unwarranted when idiots scream and carry on as their misbegotten kid shuffles across the stage.

Easy solution: pass out the diplomas in order of GPA; highest to lowest, that will guarantee these people will be last.

Went to my sons college graduation last month and sat in front of several girls who cheered loudly for every black girl graduate. They were so loud I was deaf in one year for a day and it was very painful. Although arrest is too overboard, I would have been pleased if there was an intervention.

Thinking the same thing. Throw people out if you want quiet. Warn them.

Arresting people for this? What is this, Nazi Germany?

Certain groups of people think that they don’t have to obey whitey’s rules.

...Lakaydra...

Give them a break. This is their life's achievement.

Maybe the best way to deal with this is to insist on large tickets for each visitor, even if they are free. On the ticket it must say ADMIT ONE ONLY IF QUIET. NO APPLAUSE, NO SHOUTING, NO CHEERING. ANYONE MAKING NOISE WILL BE PROSECUTED. After the last name has been called, there will be a time for cheering on your graduate. We take your student’s achievements seriously. Please do the same.

My youngest son graduated from college three weeks ago. My video was ruined by the jerk sitting near us with an air horn.

My niece graduated from college last weekend. When diplomas were handed out each person had their own cheering section. One graduate’s name was called and we heard her Mama say ‘That’s my baby!”

The rest of the house laughed and cheered for her baby!

I loved it!

Worth repeating in large font.

Easy solution: pass out the diplomas in order of GPA; highest to lowest, that will guarantee these people will be last.

Truly a good idea. And when the under 2.0 grads begin to be called and the holler-back crowd gets loud, then ya leave.

Every graduation I have been to since the 1980”s have had people yell out the graduate’s name. Nothing wrong with it. In a few cases the parents, relatives and friends could not believe theirs had made it so they showed they were proud of them. The graduates even tossed their caps in the air at the end. When one of my daughters graduated, the graduates gave the principal marbles. I think they had wanted to do something else but this was their compromise.

They have dumbed down high school so much a diploma is worthless and college is so dumbed down from even twenty years ago that most college degrees are worth less than a high school diploma from 1980.

Read the comments.

When your video is ruined by an AH with an AH (A..Hole with an Air Horn), when you miss your son or daughter’s name and achievements being read, when the entire “ceremony” is hardly different than watching drunken sports fans engage at the ball game, then come back with how my (our) “idea of decency might just be unsuitable”.

I had my degree mailed to me a week later. Saved over $150 for nonsense graduation stupidity.

FWIW: Also was boycotting because the graduation speaker was none other than Jesse Jackson. I pitched a fit that they would use ANY money to bring that worthless black bigot to a small business college in Ohio. For what they paid him they could have gotten a CEO of one of Ohio’s many fortune 500 companies or anyone off the street.

When our Granddaughter graduated two years ago and got out of her wheel chair and walked across the stage and received her diploma with Honors we all cheered. You see on December 31st she had been diagnosed with Osteo Sarcoma and had went through week after week of in patient Chemotherapy and had limb salvage and removal of her tumor in April, it was quite a accomplishment and YES we let her know We were proud of her accomplishment.

Yep, hootin’ and hollerin’ like apes. That’s what this country has devolved down to. No such thing as dignity, decorum, respect. Those belonged to a civilized society. That is something that no longer applies to America. We’re back down with the Zulus.

When people act like animals, they should be treated like animals. Warrants? I would have used stun-guns.

And how blatantly sick and self-absorbed is it to use a graduation ceremony to loudly proclaim you’re a homo and like to take it up the anus? After twelve years of schooling and hard work, and then have some blasted faggot intrude on the symbolic endpoint of your accomplishment to solicit attention towards his sick perversion? Man, if that happened when I graduated, I could have truly killed the bastard.
