Out of 8 women in Army Ranger school, guess how many graduated?

I don’t know if this story will get widespread coverage, but it’s one we’ve certainly been tracking. We’ve been keeping you apprised of the quest for social egalitarianism in our U.S. military with the inclusion of females in combat billets (duty positions) such as Marine Infantry and U.S. Army Rangers. The Obama administration decreed in 2015 — without Congressional approval — that Army Ranger training and in 2016, U.S. Navy SEAL training would be open to females. After all, to the liberal progressives of the Obama administration and their ilk, it is just a job, which should be open and available to everyone — their definition of social justice.

Well, this recent revelation is quite telling. Remember we last reported about the eight female Soldiers who passed the pre-Ranger indoctrination course? As reported by Yahoo News, “On Friday, the Army is expected to announce that all the women who had attempted to graduate from Ranger School had officially failed to meet the standards, according to a military source. Ranger School, which grooms the Army’s most elite special operations fighting force, opened its doors to women for the first time this year. Eight of the 20 women who originally entered the school’s first co-ed class were allowed to recycle through the program after they fell out in their first go-round.”

“The Friday announcement will confirm that this happened again. The Rangers are the best of the best, and being a Ranger means passing a physical test that pushes body and mind to the breaking point. If women can’t do it, the argument goes, then they shouldn’t be Rangers. But there is another opinion quietly being voiced as well: that Ranger School is more akin to a rite of passage – an opportunity for men to “thump their chest,” as one Ranger puts it – than a realistic preparation for leading in war. That women can actually make Ranger units more effective. And that the standards that keep them out are outdated.”

This isn’t about “chest thumping,” it’s about training the toughest and hardest convention formation light infantry fighters in the U.S. Army. My greatest concern is that soon the belief will be we don’t need tough standards — after all, it’s about every kid getting a trophy. But this is not about everyone getting to play. Elite fighting force has a meaning.

Lives are on the line here. There are plenty of men who aren't able to get through. Get over it ladies and find yourselves another hobby.

Females have done the same thing to our military that they did to our country in 2008. Destroy it. What will history show as the primary reason America fell? Dare we not talk about it, but the facts are the facts.

That women can actually make Ranger units more effective.

How do they do that, exactly?

This is one of those claims where, if you have to say it, it's not true.

A drunk stumbles into a lesbian bar. He sees this big woman in a cut-off flannel shirt who keeps raising her arm for the floorwalker to bring more pitchers of beer.
This woman has an underarm bursting with thick, luxuriant hair.

He yells to the lady bartender, “I wanna buy that ballerina a beer!”
And the bartender, who has been putting up with nonsense from him since he sat down, asks him, “What ballerina? What are you talking about wiseguy?”
And he replies, “That women right (hic) there.” And he points at the plaid flannel woman.
“Only a ballerina could lift her leg that high.”

The bartender says, “Simmer down or I’m going to toss you out.”

He starts to tell a blonde jokes.
She stops him and says, “See that blonde in the flannel shirt? And the one in the cop’s uniform? See the big blonde wearing the Ranger uniform? She’s so tough she was appointed by the president himself! And see that 250 pound construction worker ....
“All blondes. Are you sure you want to keep talking?”

He replies, “No, I don’t want to tell them more than once.
“So have them gather round and I’ll talk real s-l-o-w.”

Think about it, these were no doubt the best of the best females and no doubt given special consideration.

...if you don’t make it the first time there is no second chance?

I believe it usually depends on why you didn't make it the first time. I've heard of SEALs and other special forces candidates who might've been injured during training--but were allowed to return.

This might be allowed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants who can't complete a certain evolution by their branches' standards, or who choose to quit and leave the first time are not usually invited back for a second try.

All but eight.

You are correct about do-overs in combat but most of the male washouts get a second chance dependent on which parts of the program they failed and why they failed.

A second time around will produce the same results.

If a woman can meet the criteria, pass the course, and maintain that level of training, fitness, and proficiency standard then fine but I would expect that few will actually be able to do that.

Now, weakening the standards is another matter that should never be allowed to happen.

Don’t worry. Mountain phase will get them.

Don't bank on us being rescued by reality. We are in the twilight zone now.

women are real bad asses and kick the crap out of everyone...

They believed that and Charlies Angels were guarding the White Hut.

Then some spoil sport came in and just went past them. He went until an off duty guy stopped him.

So much for Charlie's Angels.

The leaders of the Army can’t adequately explain the purpose of Ranger School.

They are arguing with Liberals who are trained in education and know the education buzzwords.

So, we have a bunch of old guys who argue by saying, “Because I say so and because I outrank you!”. And they are arguing with people who have PhDs in education and aren’t in the military.

How many Veterans are there in Congress?

The Army has already lost this fight.

I can hardly wait until ENS G.I. Jane meets SEAL Phase one, commonly called BUD/S [Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL]. The Usual class is slightly over 100 applicants (we'll use 120 for our mythic co-ed class). Applicants are supposed to be in tip top physical condition before starting BUD/S because the physical stuff gets VERY physical on the first day.

BUD/S Phases

Phase 1 – Physical Conditioning (8 weeks)
•Running in the sand
•Swimming – up to 2 miles w/fins in the ocean
•Calisthenics
•Timed Obstacle Course
•Four-mile timed runs in boots
•Small boat seamanship
•Hydrographic surveys and creating charts
•Hell Week – Week 4 of Phase 1
•5 ½ days of continuous training
•Four hours sleep, total
•Swimming
•Running
•Enduring cold, wet, and exhaustion
•Rock Portage in Rubber Raiding Craft
•Doing 10 times what you thought possible
•TEAMWORK!

Phase 2 – Diving (8 weeks)
•Step up intensity of the physical training
•Focus on Combat Diving
•Open-Circuit (compressed air) SCUBA
•Closed-Circuit (100% oxygen) SCUBA
•Long-distance underwater dives
•Mission-focused combat swimming and diving techniques

Phase 3 – Land Warfare (9 weeks)
•Increasingly strenuous physical training
•Weapons training
•Demolitions (military explosives)
•Small unit tactics
•Patrolling techniques
•Rappelling and fast rope operations
•Marksmanship

Applicants can drop out of their own volition (Drop on Request — DOR), be setback in training due to a physical injury, be dropped due to inability to complete a training phase, or be dropped for academic reasons. Of our mythical class of 120 applicants, 35 or less will complete all three phases (25 weeks) of BUD/S and get their trident [SEAL[ badge.

Ranger training typically runs 61 days, so if 2nd LT Suzie Cupcake didn't make it through that selection, can anyone guess about SEAL training?

Train hard, fight easy.

Train pussy, get your butt whipped.

The Rangers is no place for women.

Period.

“Now, weakening [lowering] the standards is another matter that should never be allowed to happen.” While I agree, unfortunately, it has happened in many cases, the first of which - to the best of my knowledge - was dual standards for PT tests. One wonders what might happen when they get to peer evals; no recycles for Ranger candidates who are peered out...

I thought the only reason special forces candidates were allowed to “recycle” was in the case of injuries, after being given time to recover.

As a woman, I’m glad they failed, and I hope that you are wrong in asserting that they will degrade the standards.

There’s only one solution: Obama will decree that they are now Navy SEALs.

Hard to say with what we know now. As far as I have heard, the standards have not been lowered.

Lowering standards frequently leads to disasters. The female Navy pilot quite a few years back splashed and sank on a carrier landing. Word went around that she had been recycled until they could pencil whip a pass in flight training and that she was an incompetent pilot. All because she was part of the first class of women pilots.

In the AF I flew on and ABNCP with one of the first AF female pilots. She was an abomination who scared one too many general officers and lied about an incident to another. She still flew for qual but was made the safety officer (ironic). She was also nuttier than Mr. Peanut.
