Phase 2 Diving (8 weeks)
Step up intensity of the physical training
Focus on Combat Diving
Open-Circuit (compressed air) SCUBA
Closed-Circuit (100% oxygen) SCUBA
Long-distance underwater dives
Mission-focused combat swimming and diving techniques
Phase 3 Land Warfare (9 weeks)
Increasingly strenuous physical training
Weapons training
Demolitions (military explosives)
Small unit tactics
Patrolling techniques
Rappelling and fast rope operations
Marksmanship
Applicants can drop out of their own volition (Drop on Request — DOR), be setback in training due to a physical injury, be dropped due to inability to complete a training phase, or be dropped for academic reasons. Of our mythical class of 120 applicants, 35 or less will complete all three phases (25 weeks) of BUD/S and get their trident [SEAL[ badge.
Ranger training typically runs 61 days, so if 2nd LT Suzie Cupcake didn't make it through that selection, can anyone guess about SEAL training?
