Politico reported Wednesday on a controversial statement made by Republican Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in a piece entitled Scott Walker on mandatory ultrasounds: Its just a cool thing out there.'
The only problem? Walker never said that.
In an interview with radio host Dana Loesch, Walker defended a law he signed that required an ultrasound be performed before an abortion. But the context makes clear that ultrasounds were a cool thing, not mandatory ultrasounds before an abortions. In particular, he made his statement during a discussion of people who keep ultrasounds of their own children:

The Left is hard at work, beating the "Walker's War on Women" meme.
More at Red State: Politico Smears Scott Walker With False Quote
"Politico today led the way in a virtual tidal wave of outragey outrage stories across the leftosphere trashing Scott Walker as some kind of monster because he thinks that laws mandating ultrasounds before abortions are cool and gosh doesnt he just love rape.
Only thats not rape. And, oh yeah, he didnt even say that......."
More at Twitchy: Deliberately out-of-context Scott Walker quote fits war on women narrative, goes viral
"If theres anything reporters at Left-leaning media outlets love more than an interview with the unabashedly conservative Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, its an interview with Scott Walker conducted by conservative Dana Loesch. So Politico and other sites might have taken some liberties with their headlines reporting on Loeschs interview with Walker and by liberties, we mean deliberately pulling a quote out of context to perpetuate the GOPs war on women narrative and feed the Left a false but rhetorically effective talking point.........."
Scott Walker Self-Destructs By Suggesting That Ultrasounds Are Like Selfies
"....The man is not fit for prime time, but like his twin in Alaska, doesnt know it. ...."
You heard that saying “if you are catching enemy fire, you must be over the target” or something like that.
They keep shooting, but Walker keeps advancing.
~~~The Wisconsin governor said a procedure that involves being probed with a 10-inch rod is "lovely"~~~
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has obviously never had a transvaginal sonogram. This observation is not based entirely on the likely Republican presidential candidate self-identifying as a man or his ostensible lack of a vagina, but also on Walkers characterization of the procedure which he agreed to mandate for Wisconsin women seeking abortion care as lovely.
During an interview [2 minute clip of a half hour interview] with conservative radio host Dana Loesch last week, Walker bragged about his anti-choice record, highlighting his recent decision to sign a bill that requires women to undergo medically unnecessary ultrasounds before having an abortion. According to the GOP governor, the measure is partly an effort to coerce women into staying pregnant, but Walker also stood behind it because he thinks ultrasounds are just a cool thing.
The thing about that, the media tried to make that sound like that was a crazy idea, Walker said of the mandatory ultrasound law. Most people I talked to, whether theyre pro-life or not, I find people all the time that pull out their iPhone and show me a picture of their grandkids ultrasound and how excited they are, so thats a lovely thing. I think about my sons are 19 and 20, we still have their first ultrasounds. Its just a cool thing out there.
But Walker also came clean about the real intention of the law, which is to prevent abortion through manipulative means. We just knew if we signed that law, the governor added, if we provided the information that more people if they saw that unborn child would make a decision to protect and keep the life of that unborn child.
It is very instructive on why Walker keeps rolling over the Left.
Washington Examiner: Scott Walker attacked over abortion quote that he didn't actually say
Getting a little off track here, but I don’t understand why a transvaginal ultrasound was suggested over a pelvic one to begin with. The baby is still seen regardless. And on one of the articles it mentions a “10-inch rod” being used for a transvaginal ultrasound, whereas on the following link it states the transducer used is slightly smaller than a tampon.
And why would a pregnant woman be so upset over [the discomfort of] one of these ultrasounds anyway, when she plans on having [through abortion] destructive killing instruments placed in the same area to rip her child apart, killing it right on the spot?
That being said, it looks like we are going to have a plethora of candidates who are socially very conservative (thank God), but how is anyone going to know who to vote for? Santorum, Huckabee, Walker, they are very similar in regard to Life, and if Jindal should join in (which I’m still praying he does), we’ll have four such strong pro-Life men.
I guess if I owned a blog or news source or something like this where I could invent cool diversions, I’d probably create a cool infotrash page that went something along the lines of “Planned Parenthood says abortions are Cool!” or hawk a news item with the theme “PP: Abortions are Cool - Trending Viral”
Then again, maybe just one or two with a certain old lady that says “Chivas Regal, the booze of choice” with her picture.
~~Potentially complicating his 2016 bid, the Wisconsin governor has said he will sign a 20 week abortion bill that currently includes no exemption for rape or incest.~~
".... Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws dont count for much if theyre not enforced. Rights have to exist in practice not just on paper, Clinton said.
Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will, she explained. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed. As I have said and as I believe, the advancement of the full participation of women and girls in every aspect of their societies is the great unfinished business of the 21st century and not just for women but for everyone and not just in far away countries but right here in the United States.........
Is Walker pro-life? He has been backed by the Koch’s who are pro-abortion.
Understood, but it’s not a dumbed down tweet or facebook post that can be blasted all over the world at the speed of rumor. It’s a Fox story.
I’d have tweeted out that “Hillary calls Abortion Safe-Childbirth”.
Politico is Pollutico. It wants to pollute truth, spread lies.
Here’s Walker on abortion: http://www.ontheissues.org/Governor/Scott_Walker_Abortion.htm
ALL television networks, ALL cable networks, Politico, Huffington Post, Daily Beast, Slate and Salon are LIARS controlled by the Communnist Party...NONE are to be taken seriously.
IMHO, all the media frenzy about this candidate or that one is the same game they played four years ago. My hope is that we can ignore them. We HAVE Cruz. We ain’t gonna do better. Time to settle down.
Agreed. But those sources are quoted here by many FReepers as "proof" that Walker is a RINO or GOP-e
Don’t you know that Walker’s RECORD means nothing to some of the Cruz crowd who use liberal sources to twist Walker’s words as “proof” that Walker is not conservative?
