A feminist group that wants to boot Andrew Jackson from the $20 bill has chosen a female hero to replace him abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
On Tuesday morning, Women on 20s revealed the results of a 10-week poll for a possible Jackson replacement and emailed a petition addressed to President Barack Obama to the White House Council on Women and Girls.
By midday, the councils chair, Valerie Jarrett, and executive director, Tina Tchen, responded, saying they would like to continue the conversation.
Were waiting for some kind of meeting with the White House, and I can tell you that we are already in conversation with them, Susan Ades Stone, executive director for Women on 20s, said first to Yahoo News.
The nonprofit argues that the year 2020, the centennial of womens suffrage, would be the perfect time to add a woman to our U.S. banknotes.
Tubman is most remembered for her role as a conductor along the Underground Railroad, a secret network of houses leading slaves to freedom in the North.
Born into slavery in Maryland sometime between 1820 and 1825, she fled to Philadelphia via the Underground Railroad in 1848.

If they insist upon removing Old Hickory, the least they can do is put Spock on our currency, like Canada.
I think Val-Jay needs some time to drum up support for a Muslim woman. Maybe Mad Mo's 6 year old "wife."
They’ll want Moochelle on the Ten Dollar bill next..................
They are saving Moochelle for the three dollar bill.
Are we allowed to draw her? She's not a sacred child-wife or anything wacky like that?
You never know with the newly minted citizens 0bama's allowing to take over our country with.
Well I originally joked they should have put a black woman on the 20, to kill two birds with one stone, but I have no problem with this, it sure beats pretty much all of the other alternatives.
My comment from the other thread;
And how many millions would this cost us? Im for ditching the dollar bill, and just using the coins. A dollar bill last less than a year, the coins last darn near forever, and are not germ and virus ridden pieces of filthy paper.
Im a cheapskate, I admit it! We have to stop throwing money around for senseless reasons like changing the 20 dollar bill, or teaching African men how to wash their weenies after sex. Weve gone insane! We need to go on a severe austerity budget for at least ten years, maybe much longer!
I would make it a point to never tender another $20 bill.
I would favor putting Obama on the new trillion-dollar bill.
Tubman would be a good choice, but, I’d rather see Rose Friedman, if they absolutely must put a woman on the $20.
...because that Sacagawea coin went so well the last time /sarc
Let’s put Linda Carter on.
Just because.
Nah, that’s for her so-called husband.
She would be on the $13 bill..............
How about a group portrait: the Republican Presidents who proposed Civil Rights bills that were defeated by Democrats. IIRC, that would be Grant, Harding, and Eisenhower.
If the object of this is to have diversity we should have Asians and Hispanics also on different denominations of our bills.
If the object is to recognize great contributions to country maybe someone like Henry Ford should be considered.
I favor telling leftist pukes to go fsck themselves.
KEEP JACKSON ON THE $20.
The funny thing is, if you study history honestly, Jackson did MUCH more to keep the country together than Lincoln, Yes Lincoln fought the civil war etc, etc, etc. But nobody was willing to recognize the South and sooner or later a reunification would have occured.
During the time of Jackson, the north east actually wanted to be reunited with England. What we currently call the mid-west wanted nothing to do with the other parts of the country and actually had more ties to Canada. The South was still wedged between Spanish colonies and already did not trust the North. It was only Jacksons fire and reputation for violence when necessary that kept the country from splitting into three parts. England would have gladly welcomed the north east back into the commonwealth. It is hard to imagine the country ever being reassembled into one union again.
But of course actual accomplishment has nothing to do with the fools pushing this issue.
