Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon turned conservative star, has confirmed that he will seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.
Carson, who has never run for public office, is expected to be the only high-profile African-American to enter the GOP’s presidential primary as he tries to parlay his success as an author and speaker into a competitive campaign against established politicians.
“I’m willing to be part of the equation and therefore, I’m announcing my candidacy for president of the United States of America,” he said in an interview aired Sunday night by Ohio’s WKRC television station.
He is set to make a more formal announcement during a speech from his native Detroit on Monday.

I have never heard of any Christian denomination that has those rules.
Is this the strongest arugment you can make - some sound bytes from a Glen Beck appearance? You misrepresent Carson’s position in stating the he believes cities “don’t need a Second Amendment.” But then, you’ve never shown yourself to the chillax type. I do not find it unreasonable to be concerned that a semi-automatic weapon may fall into the hands of a criminally insane person in a highly populated area. It may be wrong, but it is not particularly unreasonable or liberal, like insisting that guns be taken away from all urban dwellers as you suggest Carson to be saying. It is not as if Carson is calling for bans on gun ownership in urban environments.
Having read through the balance of your rants on this thread, you come off once again as a certified jerk. Trying being a man (if that’s what you are) and let Carson speak for himself. His positions are clear enough without your drama-queen interpretations. He is no Cruz. Nor is he a liberal. Nor will he likely be elected President of the United States. But he deserves to let his positions stand without your overdrawn, lame conclusions. I’m sure Carson is man enough to make clear where he stands on the issues, and man enough to admit when he overstates his case. You? Not so much.

The last one sounds a lot like Carson’s statement. But really - you think that Reagan’s support of banning open-carry in California wouldn’t be an issue if FreeRepublic hadn’t been around back in the day?
I’m just saying, we won’t ever find the “perfect” candidate - Reagan wasn’t. And so far, Cruz is #1 in my book, but some will find his support of legal immigration not conservative enough.
