Rawlings-Blake says she's thinking 'long and hard' about whether to run for U.S. Senate

By Yvonne Wenger The Baltimore Sun

As she weighs a decision to run for U.S. Senate, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said Wednesday she’s considering whether she can serve Baltimore better in her current job or in Congress.

Rawlings-Blake, who is in her first full term, declined to say how soon she would decide whether to run for the seat that will be vacated by longtime Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski. Mikulski announced this week that she will retire at the end of her term after nearly half a century in public office.

"While I am flattered about the mention, I know the speculation about me as a possible successor says a lot more about the progress we’ve been seeing in Baltimore City than it does about me personally,” Rawlings-Blake told reporters. “It makes me very, very proud that a Baltimore girl is being mentioned as a contender for a U.S. Senate seat. I am also proud to see the progress made in the city. I know it’s a model that certainly would help get things done in Washington, D.C.”

Well... she certainly has the ‘lying in your face’ thing down pat!

That is the absolute prerequisite for all Congressional types.

This model of political tactics was a Clinton favorite.

Why do so many black women have hyphenated surnames? Some kind of dog whistle or code?

Mayor Rawlings-Blake was elected to a top leadership position in the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to serve as Secretary, following the historic reelection of President Barack Obama. Mayor Rawlings-Blake also serves as vice president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) and in key USCM leadership positions. In 2010, she was elected by her fellow mayors to the USCM Board of Trustees. She is also a member of the Mayor’s Water Council, and the Criminal and Social Justice Standing Committee.

Rawlings-Blake has been honored with numerous awards and recognitions. In 2013, she was awarded the First Citizen Award by the Maryland State Senate, a top honor for dedicated and effective participants in the process of making government work for the benefit of all. She was selected by The Daily Record as one of “Maryland’s Top 100 Women” in 2007 and 2011. The National Congress of Black Women named her a Shirley Chisholm Memorial Award Trailblazer. The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs named her one of Baltimore’s “Young Women on the Move.”

Only the ‘Rats promote their failures.

the communist liberal democrats have their own view of what is success and what is failure. Anyone who can stir up civil disobedience is a success and even more successful if white people die in the process.
