Two leading GOP presidential candidates took extensive conservative catechism from their fathers—and it’s the mirror image of the right’s paranoid fantasy of Obama’s indoctrination.
The articles have already started to appear: “Who’s crazier? Ted Cruz’s Jesus-huffing father vs Rand Paul’s gold-shilling doomsday dad?”
Americans are already familiar with Ron Paul’s wild ideas and chin-stroking over his cost-benefit to Rand has been a staple of punditry since Rand first hinted at interest at his own political career.
But the equally far-from-mainstream opinions of Ted Cruz’s dad, Rafael, are not as familiar to a national audience. But if you haven’t already heard about his Obama conspiracy theories, homophobia or his unusually specific interpretation of Biblical prophecy, don’t fret: Liberal outlets have all put on lobster bibs and staked out space on Rafael’s lawn for what is, in all honesty, probably going to be fantastic television.
You can already anticipate the pushback to such attacks: They are not their father’s keeper. I would advise the candidates’ offices to draft some fill-in-the-blank press releases (all ending with “does not speak for the Senator”) to save time.
This defense is not just predictable; it has the added advantage of being true. Of course no one is responsible for a family member’s opinions. If everyone in every family agreed on every political issue, then how would we bond with our spouse after Thanksgiving?

I didn’t finish the article. I have better things to do with my time. It occurred to me almost immediately that for nearly all my life the left has bowed at the alter of the Kennedys. The Rum Running, Nazi loving patriarch of that family was quite a piece of work.
So all of the sudden, the left wants to go down this road...odd daddy issues never mattered with the two presidents whi genuinely do have daddy issues - Bubba and Barry.
Rafael Cruz trained TED up “in the way that he should go” by teaching him to fear the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom. He encouraged TED to present himself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
I say to Rafael Cruz. Job well done for raising a qualified candidate for POTUS.

I think this is bad advice in the article.
Privately I would ask my Dad to not speak out alone off-script and work with my PR People, but.....
If he did do it, and people attacked my father for his views I would go out and embrace him in a public way.
He is my father, I respect him, I love him, and I don’t take kindly to those that attack my father for the cheap political attacks against me. My father is an american citizen, he has a right to his way to live his life and his beliefs. No one should belittle another because of their beliefs. No one.

Just as I’ve said, these LIBERALS, SOCIALISTS and COMMUNISTS Lame Stream Media will try to attack Ted and Rand in every way they can. I have a suggestion for these two. Whenever these POLITICAL HACKS that call themselves “NEWS MEN” start asking these stupid questions, shove it back in their faces and start asking them why they didn’t ask OBAMA the same questions.
