My enthusiasm level plummeted when I learned this. As posted on another thread, "So is there ANYONE who is running who is for the AMERICAN WORKERS?"

Who can you trust? I hope Ted has a good explanation!

He and the AEI may be right, or may be wrong, but the basis for his vote is that it would increase jobs on net.

BTW, I’m not sure I like this or not....but it’s not that you and Cruz disagree on wanting American jobs, just on how to get there.

Regardless of the reasons and detail that Cruz is tied to this, he needs to come clean on his view of H1B. I’d be happiest if he said this was not his position, that it evolved, etc., that’d be fine. Especially if he said that so long as there is an American looking for a job, no employer should be allowed to import foreign workers. For most of IT, there is truly no shortage of qualified or easily trained workers. They just come at foreign worker rates.

Increasing the supply with new highly talented labor decreases the price of existing highly talented labor. That’s a pay cut for people currently working in these fields.

However, when the whole economy has many more highly talented people, more total value is created in America, rather than offshored to (say) India. That means capital creation, new business startups, and spin-off jobs in America. That is an increase in the wages and decrease in the costs for everyone else in America.

So, the proposal is a mixed bag. To which group do you belong? The group immediately affected by a pay cut, or the group generally benefitted by having a large talented labor pool HERE rather than THERE?

I’m in the former group. So I’m harmed.

But let’s be clear, America can benefit. People will have policy preferences accordingly.

Play Ball!

Well, at least he wants them to come in LEGALLY, and have jobs, unlike 96% of his Senate Frat Brothers who want them to sneak in, then get amnestized and put on the dole.

I encourage everyone to not be reactive when hearing stories about Ted Cruz. The bad guys are going to do their best to destroy him ... and leave us with Jeb.

Disregard this column and read the facts from Ted’s site:

http://www.cruz.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=137

I am generally opposed to facilitating more jobs for non-Americans, at the expense of Americans. That said, read the press release on Ted Cruz’s site with a level head.

In the other thread, I said this was a dealbreaker, but upon further review, the proposal was all part of the convoluted internal politics of the senate and was known to be never passable.

Ted is back on again. ;-)

I have been an active conservative for 54 years and Cruz is the first one to actually creep me out. His words are fine but there is something very ego-driven about his presentation and if I am not connecting and am a loyal citizen who never misses an election, I can't imagine who will turn out for him. He is such a distraction from finding someone who is both conservative and a winner. I am very tired of primary voters who shape a ticket and then are no-show's if their fave isn't on the ballot. Well, Jesus isn't on the ballot this time. Who's your second choice? Only 24% of evangelicals even show up on election day.

The only thing Cruz brings to the table is that he speaks Spanish and is an excellent off-the-script orator. His persona is another story.

For the love of God, do the honor to America, your brain, and Ted Cruz, to actually click on the link and LISTEN to what Cruz says in the video at the linked site!

He wouldn't be arguing for such a seemingly "no-brainer negative" thing unless it wasn't as big of a no-brainer as convention has it, and as usual, conventional thinking has it wrong, and Cruz has it right.

WATCH THE FRIKKIN' VIDEO AND LISTEN.

I posted on the other thread. Please don’t take a progressive websites word about a bill that has long been dead. It’s propaganda plain and simple!

Tens of millions of U. S. Citizens either unable to find work, or having given up, it sure is enlightening to see a man that thinks we need more foreign workers to displace even more U. S. Citizens.

If this is his view, it seems as if we’ve found another political figure on crack.

What Cruz said during his announcement Monday and since does not add up to one who thinks current immigration law should be enforced.

He says he opposes Obama’s illegal amnesty. What else, if anything, does he oppose concerning amnesty, illegal or legal?

Then he adds that he wants to streamline legal immigration and make it simple and something to celebrate. He almost sounds like he wants legal immigration to be so high that no one will have to come illegally because legal entry will be so easily available.

Ted is simply talking around the issue and providing few specifics. I’m afraid many will be very disappointed once his positions are fleshed out. Hope I’m wrong.

Hold on now. You know as well as the rest of us that the MSM and every swingin liberal puke will attack Ted Cruz relentlessly.

Don’t believe what’cher hearin. Give it some time.

I’m gonna go out and research the owner of Computerworld. He will likely be a democrat Obozo supporter.

The need for this stems from a lack of qualified American workers. I teach at a Big Ten University and can tell you that very few of our college grads are getting “computer science” or “engineering” degrees. Most of them are taking the easy way out through college (e.g. Sociology, Marketing, Psychology) and frying their minds in Panama City for spring break! ;-(

Yes, Senator Jeff Sessions, Alabama. He has been a stalwart on this issue. Sadly, a lone voice and not a candidate :(
