For the second day in a row, I have gotten a strange security warning when trying to enter the National Review website. It warns me of spyware, gives me a phone number to call, and even has a voice message. I have not found a way to escape that message short of shutting down my computer. It seems to be a fake security warning.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, do you know what is going on and what to do about it? Thanks.
What is the phone number?
I don’t know; I didn’t write it down. If it happens again, I will. Sometimes when you get a suspicious phone call, if you look up the number on the Internet, you’ll find other references to it as being part of a scam.
Try cleaning your browser cache.
Then, run a program like AntiSpyware.

Then, reboot your computer.
NR has been taken over by GOPe Zombie-Ware.
This malicious virus takes over formerly principled conservatives and turns their spines into over-cooked-linguine-mush.
There is an antidote:
Install this HARDware, and you’ll feel that principled strength in your spine again soon!
I ran my webroot software and it found some threats and deleted them. I don’t know if the threats were related to this problem.
The problem isn’t with National Review, this is being caused by some malware on your computer.
Heh! ;)
I wouldn’t click on the message, call any number associated with it, or anything else it’s instructing.
Sounds like a classic trap of some sort. It’s entirely possible you’re already ‘infected’ with something. Is this only showing up on that site and no other? If so, it could be THEM who is compromised.
Very Nice!!
Of course don’t call. It’s a scam.
You probably have spyware or malware.
Download malwarebytes and run it.
instead of shutting down your system, if your using a windows machine do a CTL ALT DEL, start the task manager find the internet explorer process and kill all instances.
Yep, just this morning when I clicked on a link at Drudge about Dems getting shivers about the Cruz announcement. Wound up having to power off and back again. My anti-virus detected nothing in the way of malware or spyware after I ran a scan. After repowering it has been smooth sailing.

Why are you visiting that site in the first place? If you don’t get a nasty computer virus, you’ll be tricked into thinking Mitt Romney is a viable candidate.
We missed ya, Tommy!
Try installing this: https://adblockplus.org/
If it gives you a number to call it is surely bait for a scam or for introducing a virus.
Advise using malwarebytes. Most likely malware on your computer.
