5 Lessons US Conservatives Should Learn From Netanyahu
Breitbart.com ^ | March 18, 2015 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 03/18/2015 4:17:23 AM PDT by Biggirl

On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu won re-election according to the latest vote counts, defeating not just his domestic leftist opposition, but the President of the United States in a public stand-off that had the President sending emissaries to Israel to try and oust Netanyahu. The victory represented a stunning turnaround for Netanyahu, whose Likud Party trailed significantly in the polls in the days leading up to the election.

More likely it is a tremendous repudiation of the push-polls, which were never representative of actual public opinion to begin with.

the stupid party can't learn

The party elite and their hand-picked sellouts sure can't. Part of it's lack of leadership skills, part of it is they don't believe the constituional conservative rhetoric they campaign with, part of it's their elitist, pampered backgrounds. It's like they've never had to take a risk for something they believe in. (like Senator Cotton did)

The message I took from it is Netanyahu promises security and protecting the nation from invasion. Most US citizens want that for us.

actually, a coalition won and agreed to have Bibi as PM

American conservatives can’t grasp the fact that small groups can’t win unless they agree within the coalition. By not voting, the opposition will win.

Sanctimony is a losing proposition. Hillary will win

With all due respect to Mr. Shapiro, it's not conservatives who need these lessons. The GOPelite could benefit from your assessment, but conservatives are already on board.

Maybe you missed the last two elections. It wasn’t conservatives who nominated McCain and Romney. The sanctimony largely comes from the leftist republicans who do everything they can to alienate conservatives and spend far more energy attacking, undermining and defeating conservatives in their own party than democrats.

You can’t build a coalition with people diametrically opposed to you. Boner and McConnell have their coalition with Reid and Pelosi. They despise conservatives.

You people only talk about coalitions to get in position to stab conservatives in the back.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ran on principle, he didn’t back down from a fight, he made Israel’s security the central issue of the campaign, mobilized his base and showed you can run on an ideological platform and win decisively.

A courageous stand can actually earn you votes. Netanyahu took on the fight of his life and came out of it standing tall. Think High Noon Meets The Middle East.

Conservatives and the GOP could stand to profit from taking risks. Squishes never do get far in life. Netanyahu showed every one when you’re down, get up and soldier on and Israeli voters liked what they saw. As a result the Likud won its largest victory since the turn of the century.

Right as rain. One bad apple can spoil the barrel. Conversely, one good apple cannot save the barrel, it just rots along with the rest.

“The stupid party can’t learn.”

I agree. Boehner and McConnell won reelection doing it their way. The GOP won the Senate in 2014 while pushing away conservatives. The GOP establishment is convinced that moderation and accommodation is the path to victory.

Until moderation and accommodation is defeated at the polls, the party is not going to change. Moderation and accommodation will continue to win or almost win at the polls as long as conservatives continue to show up in large numbers and cast ballots for the “least bad” of two poor choices.

To paraphrase Lenin, sometimes you take one step back to take two steps forward. Perhaps in 2016, if the choice is between Hilary and Jeb, the step back for conservatives is to stay home, allow Jeb to lose in a crushing defeat, thereby forcing the party elites to recognize they must bring conservatives into power in order to survive.

“I agree. Boehner and McConnell won reelection doing it their “way” And their “WAY” is lying to constituents who are too stupid to figure out that doing the same stupid thing will get you the same stupid results. They are no better than democrats.

They lesson our party elites would take home is that Jeb wasn’t far enough to the left, and they need to become even more like Democrats to win. I guarantee that is how they would analyze a Jeb defeat to Hilary.

We absolutely have to coalesce around a strong constitutional conservative early on and let the RINO candidates split their vote among themselves.

Perhaps we should send all our Republican candidates and office holders a picture of a waffle, with the “NO” circle and slash over it.

Sending honest men to a corrupt congress is futile.

Term limiting them out would remove the corruption for the most part. The corrupt are in it for the bucks; why would they even run if becoming wealthy on the taxpayers' backs was made more difficult?
