An older generation complaining that an emerging one will be the death of civilization as we know it is a cliche and constant as the North Star. However, based on some rather troubling data regarding todays millennials, it could turn out to be true this time.
In his first inaugural address as governor of California 47 years ago, Ronald Reagan warned us that freedom is a fragile thing, and is never more than one generation away from extinction. He also reminded us that freedom is not ours by inheritance but must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Finally, Reagan ominously noted that those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.
Unfortunately, the next generation is woefully ill-equipped to inherit the legacy of American exceptionalism, let alone repair it after the damage done before them by the baby boom generations fiscal irresponsibility and moral relativism. Millennials appear to be detached from every foundation necessary for self government: personal responsibility, morality and strong families.
For example, according to author and columnist Janice Shaw Crouse, a whopping 70 percent of American males between the ages of 20-34 are single and living in a state of perpetual adolescence. These are obviously prime reproductive years and most young men appear to be sitting them out, or at the very least theyre inseminating and then splitting as evidenced by an out-of-wedlock birth rate that has soared to 41 percent of all childbirths, according to the CDC. Furthermore, U.S. census data points out that almost one-third of millennials are still living at home with either mom and/or dad.

PING!
If they keep gettin worse every generation we might as well sell them into slavery upon birth...
It’s not the young mens’ fault.
Look at no-fault divorce laws with alimony and child support, the Obama economy, and the general sluttery of young women.
If the women aren’t worth marrying, why does a man need to become a provider?
Romanticism, feminism, drugs, state and local regulations, state and local corruption, California-ism, homosexual-ism, globalism,...

Cardassian?
I saw this coming a long time ago, watching the extreme individualism among the young. I don’t know who is going to run traditional institutions. These people hate any kind of structure, hierarchy, authority.
As the parent of 3 men (well, one isn’t voting age yet), I agree.
The womyn’s movement has decimated men. It tells them that they all they need to be is donor’s t at a clinic. Their unique (albeit sometime frustrating for women) characteristics aren’t desired or even needed. The government and courts have decided that they are inessential, and (feminist) society has decided that they are obsolete.

I don't blame them on that - at all. I'm in my late 30's. The structures set as an example for me was far leftist PC corporate claptrap either in schools or the corporate world. I rejected that. As for hierarchy, I went into business for myself because no hierarchy earned MY respect. I'm the best. I know how to do the job (separate's me from many millenials). I went out and proved it enough to the point where I can make a living. As for authority, don't even get me started there. The only authorities I recognize are God (I'm Catholic), my parents (persuasive authority), and those that I have a contract with (actual authority via business). The rest of the so called authorities haven't earned ANY of my respect. If a law is bad, I'm going to break it (because I can) and will back that up with my .45 until I get to my Mini-14. That's how little I think of "Caesar." I have Irish ancestry and heard about Cromwell, Henry VIII, the Tudors, and the penal codes. I see the same thing on the way with that faggot in the white house (which hasn't earned a capitalization from me as I have NO respect for that office) and I will handle things accordingly as needed. I'm in charge of my situation. They aren't. If they want to ignore me. Great. If they want to force their will, I'll do what I have to do, like those for 1000 years before me did. McCarthy's/MacCarthy's adapt and survive.

I really do hate to agree with you. But when you’re right, you’re right.
Extreme individualism... Think “diffuse”... lacking a direction... lacking a center...
Wish there were more like you...
” Cardassian? “
SOL is such a Kard : )
Worse, he's a no good troll.
No matter how many insults you throw at him he won't seem to care.
He doesn't seem to care what we think of him.
Avoid him or risk your sanity.
” Avoid him or risk your sanity. “
You are presuming, of course, that we are sane to begin with.
I heard he even hates unicorns and rainbows...
Unicorns can be painful, especially if you drop loose change.
SOL is a big Dubya fan, though...
