National security officials have been notified that an underground tunnel was discovered near a venue for this summer's Pan Am Games in Toronto, CBC News has learned.

The tunnel was dug in the woods near Toronto's Rexall Centre and York University's Keele campus. It was large enough for a person to stand in, at around 2½ metres in height, and was about seven metres long. The tunnel had lights inside, powered by a generator, and the walls and ceiling were reinforced.

Sources told CBC News that the tunnel was filled in by authorities.

My first thought was that someone wanted to plant an A-bomb in the tunnel.

Scary.

I thought it might have just been some kids playing until I read about the generator and reinforced walls and ceiling.

Really strange.

Somebody went to a lot of time and trouble to construct this tunnel. Weird.

maybe they can’t afford a ticket but want to view from close to the field, or more likely they had something extreme in mind.

21 feet long? It wasn’t finished. My guess is islamo terrorism. Think what a large IED would do had they finished the tunnel under the Rexall Centere.

“No one has come forward to claim the digging tools and generator found at the tunnel or offer any explanation for its existence.”

Did they really expect them to?

If it was a terrorist plot, the bad guys were apparently targeting tennis. An understandable choice.

The should have put the area under surveillance and wait for the tunnelers return!

Now they’ll never catch them, and they just might come up with another plan equally sinister.

"[Toronto] Mystery tunnel found near Pan Am Games venue ..."

..... Heck ..... Probably just a tunnel to allow Undocumented Attendees into the Pan-Am Games. They should give them box seats with catered meals, Free Canadian Healthcare and perpetual accommodations in perpetuity ....... You know .... just Like America does with our Undocumented Aliens that enter the United States.

my guess is that the tunnel that was “unearthed: is not the only tunnel in the neighborhood.

My first thought too...

Anything less doesn’t require that much effort...
