Former Defense secretary 'afraid' of impact of Netanyahu speech (Leon Panetta to CNN)

Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta is "afraid" what will happen when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaks before a joint session of Congress next month.

"I'm afraid what is going to happen here with what Netanyahu will do is to make this partisan divide between Democrats and Republicans and that makes it a very dangerous trap," Panetta said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Netanyahu has said he plans to use his speech before Congress to criticize the administration's negotiations with Iran, which he claims are threatening Israel.

Panetta said he hopes lawmakers are able to find another way to listen to Netanyahu's views without it being used as a "partisan presentation."

"We need to get back to presidents and Congresses who can work together to try to confront the challenges we face," Panetta added.

As if there could be a “partisan divide” in the Uniparty.

The non-partisan truth is that Iran nust not be allowed to have a nuclear or thermonuclear bomb.

If Panetta or the White House think there is a partisan division possible on that issue they are wrong. Iran has made too many public nuclear threats against the US, done too many evil deeds against Americans, and moved ahead to develop its own nuclear delivery system. For us to in any way approve an Iranian nuke is suicidal for America. No way. Nada!

Just as Bibi is about to take Obama and his policys to the wood shed, all of a sudden Panetta says that the divide will become too wide?

$hit! The Dems should have thought about that “divide” when they physically changed door locks and then immediately locked all Republicans out of Congressional Committee Rooms in which Obama Care was bring drafted in 2008, denying Republics ANY participation in legislative process.

I hope Bibi lays a horrible shellacking on Obama and The Left, using the truth as a stick to beat a tattoo on their sorry arses!

Panetta needs to chill on his foolishness.

Panetta said he hopes lawmakers Republicans are able to find another way to listen to ignore Netanyahu's views without it being used so it won't be used as a "partisan presentation."

There, translated his true meaning.

Just who's fault does Panetta think this is?

Funny how one guy with words scares our politicians and their loyalists more than a few billion radical Islamic lunatics with nuclear weapons?

I don't mean to sound arrogant, but sheesh! Talk about your common sense?

Americans rather listen to Netanyahu than Obama. That is what they are afraid of.

Penetta may wish to review his records, as Iran has repeatedly over the course of many years made clear its principle intention of destroying USA... the fact that Iran also has designs on Jerusalem and the Arab peninsula oil fields.... notwithstanding. USA is Iran’s “Great Satan” and if we had any sort of loyal American administration of either political party ... we would have eliminated this danger several years ago already.

Get off your high horse Mr. Pannetta. We’ve been negotiating with Iran for years and “0” has come of it. They’ve said it over and over....They will not be stopped from making nuclear weapons.

“We need to get back to presidents and Congresses who can work together to try to confront the challenges we face,” Panetta added.

I dont think anyone disagrees with his comments. I would love to see a Congress and the President working together. But the President has proven to be an unreliable negotiator who plays games. The Republican Congress cannot get their collective shit together enough to even present a unified front.

There is plenty of blame to go around.

A pox on all of their houses.

I don't know how many Jewish folks you know, but aside from those here most I've met are libertarian at best and wish the Tea Party would fall off the planet.

Others may as well wear the swastika for all the actions they support that would inevitably doom Israel.

I've not been able to figure it out. I've had to disown friends of 35 years for their positions that were inseparable from policies promoted by the Nazi party in the 1930's.

My words of "How can you not understand this?!?" had no effect.

There was no reasoning with a radical. They are blinded by some influence far greater than that which falls into the realm of man to undo.

Leon’s right.

I remember a time when a president twice vetoed Welfare Reform but, utlimately signed it into law.

I recall still another when a president at the behest of a unanimous congress signed a bill declaring the intent of the United States to remove a certain dictator from power by peaceful means or force if necessary.

There was even a time when a majority in Congress revealed their agreement that the time had come for that dictator to be removed by force.

Now, I wasn’t around then but, another president worked with an initially majority party to make into law the 13th and 14th amendments.

More recently I recall a certain president claiming to work with the opposition party to institute another law by name of, I don’t know, let’s call it Obamacare.

Not only was there never any deliberation, we were told the bill had to be signed in order for any one to learn what provisions it contained.

Kan’t we all just get along???

I think he’s actually afraid of the giant wedge that will be driven between the Jews and the Democraps; Jews are going to side with those who stand behind and will defend Israel, which this treacherous and treasonous administration and its filthy Demoncrats have shown they will NOT do.
