There are two problems in this section of Collins's column: First, she accuses Walker of dishonesty, but she's just quibbling over semantics. Is it really inaccurate to describe someone named an "outstanding first-year teacher" by the Wisconsin Council of Teachers of English as a "teacher of the year" for short? I've never seen much of a difference: In the headline of this 2011 piece, I described Sampson as a "teacher of the year," but in the body of the piece I precisely described her award. Walker has been telling this story for four years, and no one thought his description of Sampson was dishonest until Gail Collins heard about it.

Ol Scott is scaring them to death.
After Walker’s reforms, the only districts that made layoffs were places like Milwaukee, who signed a quickie contract with the Union to keep them locked in before the law took effect. They laid off dozens of teachers.
Gail Collins, Brian Williams, Al Sharpton...............Same difference.
He certainly is. Today over at twitchy they have his valentine’s day tweet, he’s scrubbing the bathroon and his wife is cleaning the kitchen. “how romantic” as he says.
Walker’s got the common touch, he’d make hillary clinton look like the Queen of Sheba.
Another sign of the sheer DESPERATION being experienced by the LEFT.
The only two Republican potential candidates for the 2016 Republican nomination worth a salt are Ted Cruz and Scott Walker. The others (e.g., Jed Bush, Marco Rubio) aren’t acceptable.
Public school teachers are givernment parasites..
WOW, it is amazing how the media is relentless to a republican even after all these years of them defending their messiah and they still are looking to investigate and lie to get their person back in power.
I have voted in every election I could but if Bush is the media’s nominee then I will stay at home for the first time, same goes for Christie.
The Democrats/Union/Media (”DUM”) have spent countless hours and many millions of dollars trying to find dirt on Scott Walker. The fact is Walker is the son of a minister and is squeaky clean. After about 5 years nothing has stuck.
Walker will endure the same treatment Dan Rather gave to GW Bush: They will simply make up dirt and attempt to pass it off as journalism.

“NYT Columnist Blames Scott Walker for Teacher Layoffs That Occurred Before He Was Governor”
Maybe the columnist misspelled “Bush”. /s
Over at the NY Times article, in the comm3nts section, the liberals are swallowing this column whole.
Agreed on Bush. Why would you lump Rubio in with them? He’s fantastic on most issues, and polar opposite of Jeb on education and more. I understand the problems with immigration, but I don’t know if there is any daylight between him and Walker on that issue. I am with you on Cruz and Walker as top tier...I am still overall a Rubio fan, despite his complete failure on immigration during his term. Unless he runs and just shined brightly, I’d rather he stay in the Senate. If we go with a first term Senator, Cruz is better across the board and has much more relative experience pre-Senate for the Presidency.
Of course they did! Truth in the NYT? C’mon!
Most teachers are just indoctination teachers.
They won’t be missed.
Dittos on that!
