Health officials in Arizona, host state of Sunday's Super Bowl, have asked people who may have been exposed to measles to isolate themselves
...
Seven cases have been confirmed and 1,000 people across three counties may have been exposed .. Two of the seven confirmed cases are in Maricopa County, which is hosting the NFL championship game, the county's health department confirmed Tuesday.
Because the highly contagious virus can linger in the air for two hours, health officials have asked those who may have been exposed to avoid doctors' offices, emergency rooms or urgent-care centers

If the anti-vax crowd hadn’t lowered the immunity of the heard it wouldn’t matter who brought it here because it wouldn’t have found fertile ground to plant in.

The thing is, you don't really know who has the measles. It could be the anti-vax crowd, but maybe not.

But you do know that folks who don’t have the vaccine are more likely to get it, and the more folks that get it the more it challenges the immune systems of people that have the vaccine. We went from a position where the number of people getting measles in this country has been basically 0 for almost 25 years to possibly thousand this year depending on how this plays out. And there’s one big thing that’s changed since then, and that change isn’t terrorism or illegals, it’s anti-vax people deliberately weakening their children, and in some cases deliberately exposing them to illness. Now yes correlation isn’t causation, and we need a lot more facts to be sure, but meanwhile people should be getting their kids MMRs like they used, back when nobody got the damn measles.

Wouldn't it be wise to get the facts before assigning the blame?

Probably. But nutters are nutter and anti-vaxers are nutters.

Thanks! That’s the nicest reaction in a while. :’) It’s partly for me as well — sometimes topics I clearly remember don’t show up in a search, except as one of those collection of links, so I can then find the original topic. Of course, having two million topics around here has something to do with that. :’)

Luckily this ain’t a court. So whether they became the ground for measles or not they’re still nutters.

Oh facts matter a lot. It’s a sure fact that anti-vaxers are nut jobs weakening our society and volunteering their kids for an early grave. The only thing at question here is did they participate in this measles outbreak. And since one day they WILL participate in a major outbreak even that one doesn’t matter, because even if they didn’t this time, the next time or the time after that they will. Those are facts, and they are not innocent.

Me too, and I was under the impression that you only get it once......but then I came down with Rubella while on Mess Duty at Camp Pendleton in 1966, and spent Christmas in the Isolation Section of the base hospital.
I was "salad man" which consisted or rolling up the sleeves and hand/arm mixing up huge plastic tubs of greens -- I'm sure I infected half the Marines stationed around that messhall.
