Minnesota health officials move to contain measles outbreak

Two more cases of measles were confirmed overnight Thursday, as state health officials scramble to contain an outbreak of the disease among children who have not been vaccinated.

So far, six cases have been reported in Minneapolis in the last two months, half of them in members of the Somali community, Dr. Ruth Lynfield, the state epidemiologist, said Friday.

Until this outbreak, only six cases had been reported in Minnesota in the past five years.

As a result, health officials are working with leaders in the Somali community to try to head off any wider spread.

Surprise, surprise...

GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY!

I DON'T WANT YOUR RELIGION AND I DON'T MUCH CARE FOR YOUR DISEASES, EITHER.

Two of the kids were too young to even get the vaccine if the parents had wanted it.
The article didn’t report any deaths which means six kids now are naturally immune for the rest of their lives, unlike those of us who were vaccinated.
If the vaccine is so great, why are officials so worried about it spreading? The only people who should worry are those who have not been vaccinated.

Actually you can get measles even if you’ve been vaccinated, although it will be a milder case. It happened to one of our boys.

I remember when I contracted measles at age 9. It was during 4th of July and I had to stay in bed for a whole week in a darkened room, which made the room even hotter. I was so upset I couldn’t watch the fireworks downtown. In order to pass the time my mom put a radio in my room, which was the first time I ever listened to popular music. I still know the lyrics to “Moon River!”

Well, they didn’t get measles from me, or anyone I know.

The Somali community in MPLS and ‘burbs is a cesspool of disease and crime.

We had a similar issue with TB in the early to mid 90’s.

The mass immigration of SE Asians brought un-vaccinated worker by the thousands. Where I worked, TB alerts were posted on a monthly basis, as new cases in the building were revealed.

And yet, to this very day, this company continues to sing the praises of “diversity is good for us”.

Madam is absolutely correct. You are safer being an unvaccinated person in a vaccinated herd than you are being a vaccinnated person in an unvaccinated herd. That is why there are massive outbreaks when the unvaccinated group reaches a critical mass. Our sons knew a boy who became deaf due to a case of measles. It’s nothing to mess around with.

Why do we let Somalians into this country? Exactly what do they add, other than disease, crime, and being members of the Future Jihadists Club? Welcoming hordes of third world immigrants started on Clinton’s watch. Another reason I can’t stand him.

I don’t have a problem with allowing genuine refugees into the country. There just needs to be follow-up in public health.

In the case of Somalia, there has been terrible persecution of Christians in that country.
