Has Jeb Bush offered the Republican Party a new way to talk about same-sex marriage?
Fred Sainz thinks he has.
Sainz grew up two doors down from Bush in Coral Gables, Fla., and counts the former Florida governor as an early mentor who got Sainz a job working for Bushs father in the White House. But Sainz left the GOP in 2004 after George W. Bush, Bushs brother, railed against same-sex marriage in his reelection campaign.
Sainz, now a leader of the gay rights movement as a vice president of the Human Rights Campaign, sees an important evolution in the likely 2016 presidential candidate.
In 1994, Jeb Bush argued that gay men and lesbians did not deserve special legal protection and said that sodomy should not be elevated to the same constitutional status as race and religion. But this week, Bush said people should accept court rulings that legalize same-sex marriage and show respect for gays in committed relationships, while reiterating his long-held belief that marriage is a sacrament.(continued)

The Republican Party never had the way, they just sucked slightly less, up until now.
Some will remember that I have consistently cautioned that Trey Gowdy was going to be a disappointment. I reminded all that Lindsey Graham was once a hero from the House back in the impeachment days.
Are you kidding?
When Bush signed the Defense of Marriage Act he issued a statement saying that he had "long opposed governmental recognition of same-gender marriages."
No wait, that was Clinton.
But Bush supported local bans on gay marriage.
No wait, that was Clinton again.
Never mind.
On the one hand/On the other hand ......
LOL

In an unexpected move, Jeb Bush became Mitt Romney today.
“Ein Volk...ein partie”
ABB...Anybody But....
Wonder if he had a turn with that 15-year-old too?
Yet another strawman from the dc elite. Hardly anyone is showing disrespect. Most people think two willing people can do whatever the hell they want. What we object to is forcibly overturning the will of the people to call it marriage. It isn’t. Although the right is split, many are fine with government classification for the purposes of taxes and contractual rights. The disrespect comes from the radicals destroying the freedom of religion and freedom from participating in the charade. Baking gay wedding cakes etc.
I would forward the radical that Jeb, and Mitt and Christie and Paul and their ilk keep haunting American politics because their supporters are allowed to spread GOP propaganda and divide the base. And I would like to see someone explain how that is anything but a highly contributing factor,
Now, since that is a factually and historically accurate statement, I would like someone to explain WHY they are allowed to use conservative outlets to spread GOP propaganda.
Logically, if people really wanted these liberals gone from politics, their supporters would be shunned and their unfettered access to a soapbox would be removed from them.
So why isn’t that happening?
Indeed, the Atlanta fire chief just loses his job to these homo-fascists for holding to his Christian beliefs.
While Jeb and the GOP do all they can to cozy up to these sodomites. Cowering in fear of them, or just a reflection of their own inner degeneracy? Probably both, as I see it. No way in hell I’d ever give my vote to Jeb.
I miss the days when we had leaders that stood up for family values. Just twenty years ago, I never would have predicted that I’d see the GOP so happily stand with the forces of moral deviancy. Part of the upside-down world we have now, I suppose. Evil is celebrated, while virtue and decency is attacked. Jeb and the GOP wants to be a part of that new order. But I’ll never be. And I’ll regard them as nothing less than an enemy to everything I believe and cherish.
Wow, is Jeb’s head BIG!
Compare to GW’s head in that picture.
Funny, I dont recall anything of the sort
"Dubya" was a gay-hugger in 2000 and right up until he made a Rove-influenced political decision in 2004 to use "gay-'rights'</off cant and b. s. >" issues and lots of state-level ("down-ballot") initiatives and referenda on defense of marriage to drive the conservative base to the polls to pull the Establishment's chestnuts out of the fire and get re-elected.
“Shut up Jeb! I will vote for Hitlery before I support you.”
You left off the /s.
Jeb Bush weasel words. As if I need another reason to loathe this RINO.
Not being sarcastic. Back in the middle ages when they used to burn people alive, if they had enough friends or enough money, they could bribe the executioner to tie a bag of gunpowder to their neck so that when the flames got that high it exploded and killed them.
Jeb represents the slow burning of our society. If I have to be slowly roasted by those in power, I'd rather have the bag of gunpowder represented by Hillary.
Might as well get this nation over quickly.
“Not being sarcastic.”
I was.
Jeb who?
I’d have more respect for him if he
A)Just came out in favor it.
B)Just said he didn’t give a damn either way (I suspect this is the truth)
This mealy-mouthed garbage, zero respect.
RE Jeb takes both sides:
A man who tries to be all things to all people is ultimately nothing to anyone.
Jeb should watch his ass on the way to hell. Some Sodomite might try to assault out of admiration for his new found moral flexibility.
This man is as dead to me as the Constitution is to the Federal employees in black robes. If he gets the nomination our civilization would be better off with the Democrat who will bankrupt Washington.
