Arrests plummet 66% with NYPD in virtual work stoppage

It’s not a slowdown — it’s a virtual work stoppage.

NYPD traffic tickets and summonses for minor offenses have dropped off by a staggering 94 percent following the execution of two cops — as officers feel betrayed by the mayor and fear for their safety, The Post has learned.

The dramatic drop comes as Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and Mayor de Blasio plan to hold an emergency summit on Tuesday with the heads of the five police unions to try to close the widening rift between cops and the administration.

The unprecedented meeting is being held at the new Police Academy in Queens at 2 p.m., sources said.

Angry union leaders have ordered drastic measures for their members since the Dec. 20 assassination of two NYPD cops in a patrol car, including that two units respond to every call.

Resignation is, IMHO, too good for De Blasio. It allows him to position himself as a martyr and portray the cops as extortionists.

He really needs to be humiliated, but left in office in a weakened state. Make him issue an effusive and unconditional, uncaveated public apology. Make him condemn Sharpton, and rescind Sharpton’s all-access pass to the Mayors Office. Make him condemn the anti-cop protesters in the most stringent of terms. Etc.

Sounds like a work slow down, or in union terms a “job action”. Can’t blame them.

Let the native New Yorkers kill each other.

The herd needs thinning anyway.

Bratton has his nose up Herr Wilhelm’s ass and is afraid of losing his job by daring to speak out against the Socialist.

You are correct, I forgot that one. Perhaps the lawyers and bail bondsmen can cry the blues as a duet.

Wilhelm could help stem this angry tide by speaking an apology to the NYPD rather than the ‘posturing act’ he’s been performing.

SUPREME COURT RULING: Police Have No Duty To Protect The General Public

January 28 2013 by Dan Cannon Share This Post

People who don’t understand taking responsibility for your own safety often ask me why I wouldn’t just call the police to stop a crime instead of drawing a gun. Well for one, a great police response time would be 1-2 minutes, but most crimes take place in a matter of seconds. Two, police have no duty to protect me, or you.

Based on the headline of this article you might think this is an important new ruling, but it’s not. The court has kept this stance for over 30 years.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that police officers at all levels of the government have no duty to protect the citizens of this country.

It is the job of police officers to investigate crimes and arrest criminals.

We are on our own for protection.

While we are quite sure most police officers will help someone in need when required, just remember the next time you feel you might need protection that police officers have no duty to provide that to you.
