WILLIAMSPORT A federal judge has told a Schuylkill County man to stop focusing on Sara Palin and "get everything under control."
U.S. Middle District Judge Matthew W. Brann Thursday warned Shawn Richard Christy, 23, of McAdoo, to stop the "nonsense" because he was headed down a bad path.
The judge asked Christy's father, Craig Richard Christy, 51, also of McAdoo, to try to help get his son under control because his probation officer thinks he is ticking time bomb.
Brann noted when Craig Christy was sentenced in Alaska in 2012, he said he had not been a very good role model for his son and accepted full responsibility for him being out of control.
The father and son were in prison outfits because Brann ordered their arrest after they failed to appear last Thursday for a hearing on the government's request modify terms of their probation. They government is seeking to require each to undergo a mental health evaluation by Jan. 13.
The Christys claimed they were under the impression they had waived their right to such a hearing. Bran responded he had the right to order a hearing and warned both they could be held in contempt if they ignore a future court order.
Each Christy agreed to have the requested mental evaluation by Jan. 31 and the judge ordered their release from custody.
They are serving five years of probation for making threatening phone calls from their home to lawyers for Palin, a former Republican vice presidential candidate and former governor of Alaska. Their supervision was transferred to the Middle District in February.
Restraining orders had been issued for Shawn Christy in 2010 after he was accused of stalking Palin and a year later for his father after he allegedly left multiple harassing telephone messages for Palin's parents.
Each was placed on probation after they admitted making numerous harassing telephone calls from Pennsylvania to Palin's attorney John Tiemessen in Alaska.
Messages included a threat to kill Tiemessen and Shawn Christy saying he might have sex with Palin and rape one of the attorneys, an FBI affidavit alleged.
Terms of their probation included a mental health evaluation but the request for a deadline on when to have it done was the result of a confrontation with their probation officer in their McAdoo home in November.
Verbal abuse of the probation officer ends today, Brann told Shawn Christy, who said he understood.
The Christys withdrew motions seeking to have Brann recused from the case.
Sarah Palin bump.
:D
This publication can’t even spell her first name correctly!
The Judge should issue a similar admonishment to the media and the deranged pop culture.
The misspelling is probably not an accident. Libs can be over the top petty when it comes to insulting someone who speaks the painful truth, even when it’s not popular.
Wow, father and son sufferers of Palin Derangement Syndrome (PDS). And the wife/mother seems as though she could be similarly afflicted.
Hollow people with empty lives sometime have nothing else left other than to target and stalk good people.
I concur!
Stalk someone who practices their 2nd amendment constitutional right - Poor decision.
“Stalking Palin for his father...”
WTF is wrong with these psychotic idiots???
She’s a GREAT American lady, and evidently that drives people nuts???
Geez... we REALLY need a housecleaning.
The man from MacAdoo is a wackadoo.
And he’s tried to leave alone Mrs. Palin, but so far he’s failin’.
CC
They violated their probation! Throw them in jail for five years! It ain’rocket surgery!
That is why, if these guys did harm Sarah , the wacked out media would be partially to blame.
God bless you, sweetest, re_nortex.
I’m certain you’re right on all counts!
Mental institution ... now!
I thought the Secret Service instructed Biden to stop doing that!
LOL!
A prison sentence would be the right thing. And my goodness, is he ever unattractive!
